New build isn't reading from USB drive

Hi,

I just finished building my first pc and have booted it with a USB dvd drive connected, I have tried to put the windows 7 install disk in but it won't "suck" the disk in. I have tried creating a USB drive that I can boot from but when I select that to boot from and reset it doesn't boot from the drive.


I honestly have no idea what to do, can someone help me?

Your MB only has USB 3.0 ports (no USB 2.0). Win 7 installation disk doesn't has the USB 3.0 drivers
As mentioned, to use a USB flash installation disk, you need to add the USB3 drivers into the installation disk.
You can use the Asus tool, but it will only install the USB3 drivers into the installation wizard. It won't install them into the Win PE (for maintenance) and to the installation (when windows finish installation you won't have USB support)
Read my tutorial. I've added the Drives7 folders so you have all you need to install all drivers into the installation disk for all situations.
Create a Windows 7 USB flash installation with new drives for new MB's

Does you usb connected CD/DVD player have a external power supply?
Their is a good chance your DVD player will draw more current than a usb connection can supply.

It would be helpful if we new exactly what DVD player you are using. Please add that to your system specs.
