hi are you not going to be putting in a graphics card? if you are then you definitely need a bigger power supply.

Thanks for the expert advice.
Firstly no graphic card, that's why I choose 9400 over 9400F.
I'm not into gaming, have none idea about hardware, just want custom built rig that would run W10 Pro 64 smoothly and last a while...
These specs were suggested by the local PC tech.
Yes, I want clarity for medical images..

Hi , on second thought in you're expert opinion should I get a graphic card which probably the board supports...
Would it improve vs Intel built in graphics?
Which would you recommend, along with a bigger PSU?
That's less noisy and won't burn.. Some entry level one..
Any other suggestions/editing of the other hardware?

Thanks.

What do you plan on doing with this PC?

What do you plan on doing with this PC?

1. No gaming, besides that the usual stuff using W10 x64 MS OFF, surfing, medical imaging, occasionally watch a movie DVD/Blue ray.

2. Few people that I discussed the specs with, say it's a over kill. But PC tech says it's fine.....initially he recommended i5 9700K CPU.

My requirements are

1. A quiet, responsive machine that wouldn't hang or slow down, wont need tweaking and last a few years.

2. Like my Dell though quite old, still has none issues, but W10 x64 slows it down, drivers difficult to find etc. Need to customize/tweak quite a bit to make it run.

3. It runs W7 great, but the nvidia GTX 9590 has fried twice.........

Hope you know about my needs/requirements.

Care to recommend your expert thoughts what hardware should I get, IF its a overkill?

Thanks!

Now after knowing what I plan do to do and having read my mind what individual specs hardware would you recommend if you were in my place or wanted a custom built for yourself.

I'd appreciate that.

I can get a custom built in half the price, that might do the job...

But mine intention is to get something that's versatile, having options etc..

Thanks again!

So here's what I have for you doing some quick searching. The brands I have picked are all good and reputable. You only need 16 GB of RAM and a 500 GB SSD. If you are going to game or add a ton of data then get a 1 TB SSD or a 1/2 TB platter for spill over. No video card required since you aren't gaming. The CPU its self supports video onboard. The case should fit the cooler. I have the Evo 212 and it's been pretty decent. Others may have another opinion, but I bet what ever else is out there will only lower the temperature a few more degrees if that vs an Evo 212. Hardly worth the money to spend. Also, thermal grease is thermal grease. The fancy Arctic Silver stuff is just a few degrees difference then what the CPU cooler comes with. I used the stuff that came with my Evo 212 and my gaming temps are never over 80 F. I made sure the RAM was listed with the QVL (Qualified Vendor List) list for the motherboard. The case is really up to you, but I made sure the Evo 212 fits. You can add additional fans at the top. 3 x 120mm or 2 x 140mm.

Thanks for the expert recommendations.

A few queries:

1. Why the crucial 16GB vs Corsair vengeance 16GB @3200..
price, in incompatibility with the board... QVL is the reason you recommend crucial?

2. I agree with 500 GB SSD, but again an extra backup 1TB won't really make a difference or increase the prices that much. Memory and drives are not that expensive these days.
Adding before better than realizing the need later?

3. CPU: either 9400 or 9700K. Since both have graphics.. Only difference is of price of K a bit more and fan, grease required.. Am I correct?

Apologize for the ignorance, don't want to be dependent and be shuttling to the PC tech shop or Microsoft support....

I like to learn about the things I use, age is drawback factor...

Thanks again appreciate you taking out the time.

Regards.

Yes, I chose that RAM as it is QVL. It was really, really hard finding the RAM in the QVL list at a vendor. If you go to ASUS's website on that motherboard and go to their support page for RAM and search for the product numbers at NewEgg or PCpartpicker I was hitting a wall. I tried with the lowest speed first since RAM is very expensive right now.

Yeah, it wouldn't hurt to have a 1 TB platter if you feel you need it. With platters I like Hitachi enterprise drives. I have two 2 TB Hitachi platters and both have over 19,000 hours and still are going strong with no SMART errors, etc. If you get a platter and don't plan on using it right away, just don't install it and power it in your computer until you need it to save on wear and tear.

You could just go with the 9400 i5 if you want. The Evo 212 fan should come with grease. Just have a PC shop use that.

Thsnks again for the expert clarification.

Plan running W 10 x 64 Pro on it.

W7 runs fine on my dell with 4 gigs of RAM @677 MHz.

Memory and Drives aren't that expensive here...

500 SSD Samsung M2 NVME for approx 80 bucks.
16 GB corsair vengeance @3200 mhz for 150..

Do I require the full tower casing or mid..

Thanks again.

You have a great system....
A friend works for Micron, their drives aren't bad too, I have one 250 SSD.. Running great, quite and great write/read speeds despite its not MVNE.

I had a talk with the pc tech, his only concern is about the casing... as per him its too big in size, suggests going with a mid tower... Said its a suggestion, rest some up to you...

Have a great evening!

Tech differences, pros/cons between Z390 gaming plus vs Gigabyte H310?

They are pretty much two competing boards in most respects other than price. Not sure about the Gigabyte motherboard, but it looks like the ASUS board has better chokes and MOSFETs, etc. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if the Gigabyte board had the same thing and just doesn't mention it.

I'd probably get the Gigabyte since it's made durable like the ASUS counterpart and is a lot cheaper. I prefer Gigabyte myself and my two Gigabyte boards I've owned have been pretty much error free. Though, it's possible from time to time to get a lemon from the assembly line. It happens.
