Hello Cmoprint, welcome to Seven Forums!

That seems to be an XP error, has XP been on the Hard Disk Drive before or are you trying the OEM disk from XP for the install, or are you booting the Windows 7 installation DVD using the PC BIOS?

Hi Barefoot Kid, this is a first time build all the hardware runs etc i got a utilities disc that came with the board
but was advised by the guy at my local maplin store that i did not need this as windows 7 does everything when you put in the disc but i am now thinking this should have been instaled first but how do i uninstal the OS without being able to open it. Or is it a case of use another computer to download missing file whilst i am unable to activate new build in order to go online for fixes?

Hello again.

Is the Windows 7 "OEM" disk an actual MS installation DVD or is something the PC 'guy' cooked up on his own?

Hi again Barefoot Kid, and thanks for taking time to help a div like me ( english expression) means lower division in the brain power catagory ha ha, the OS is a Microsoft Genuine. The problem is i am a newby at the game so i may have missed some vital stage of the instalation on screen but after making the first power up
the screen was saying : insert disc so i inserted the OS it went through the processes stage by stage and the fourth stage was updates and i thought hows it going to update without internet access software and i had not even plugged in the ethernet cable just then i was called away to answer the door and when i returned i was just in time to see the system restart and you know the rest.
should i just remove the hard drive and buy a new one and try the OS on a fresh
drive or is it not that simple? or is there any way to uninstal using the bios? because every time i power up i get Windows boot manager with that message
widows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to fix the problem: 1. Insert your instalation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click next.
3. Click repair your computer.
i tried reinserting and manualy restarting but the disc is not rebooting and therefore
these options are not useful. below these options it says " if you do not have this disc contact your system administator or computer manufacturer for assistance"
then below this " File : \windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
status: 0xc0000221 Info: windows failed to load because the kernel is missing, or
corrupt."

You need to boot the installer to install Win7. Choose Custom install, then use Drive options to Delete all, create New partitions as you wish, Format and install to first partition.

Follow the steps shown here: Clean Install Windows 7

Hi Gregrocker, cant get windows to start, boot manager says ntos kernel is missing or corrupt and cant reload disc
and restart i have tried everything in my limited experience, is wiping the hard drive and begining again an option
and then booting up from the motherboard utilities disk before instaling the OS? Utilities disc is System Utility DVD For Intel Platform and it supports Microsoft OS Windows 7, Vista, and XP supports Intel XTU utility.

I'm not Greg, but he means to boot from the Win7 install DVD. Delete the existing partitions on the hard drive and start over.

Hi again theog,The problem is the OS instalation only made it to the first restart before i got the windows boot manager
telling me that the ntos kernel was iether missing or corrupt. So i have not even been able to activate the OS
with the product key so my first question is how do i use windows 7 dvd to uninstal and also the HD is now taking priority in the boot order so this sounds like advance CMOS to change the boot priority but iam unsure how you do this. I have looked in the advance CMOS and select HD it shows as 1st device then i checked out DVD and it shows this as first device, its showing both the HD and the DVD as 1st boot device but this is where i am unsure do i just go into HD and dissable save and exit in order to get the OS Disc to run from the DVD or is it about changing the priority which i am also unsure about. any sugestions on how to do this would help. thanks for your patience.

It's not clear from your motherboard's manual, but you should be able to choose which type of device (HD, optical, etc.) is the boot drive, as well as the specific drive of a particular type (if you have multiple HDs or optical drives).

Be sure to go into the BIOS settings and change the boot device to the HD when the PC reboots during the Windows installation. I believe thatyou don't want subsequent boots to be from the DVD.

Hi to all, Sory been off-line for a while, got a pal to look over the build, he took one of the
2 gig ram modules out reducing the rig to 2 gig and the OS went on fine, however, there
were problems when i tried installing my software including Kasperski 2012 IS with the rig
back to 4 gig so out came the ram module again, this time i took the other module out.
( my thinking here was to check if there was any difference between the modules ) and
my software went on fine. After reading everything i could i have come to the conclusion
that my CPU having a front side bus of 800MHz does not like the OCZ DDR3 PC10666
Ram's FSB which is 1333, the MoBo Northbridge supports 1333/1066MHz FSB so does this
mean i need Ram with 1066 or 800 Fsb i have no desire to overclock the CPU this rig is
For my Graphics and Photo Studio's not a Gamers Rig and i would like to use both 240 pin
Dimm slots preferably with 2 gig in each?

Hi bobkn, With my Intel Pentium Dual core E5700 Cpu having a Front side bus of 800 Mhz this
is my lowest comon denominator so which memory would be best 8500/1066 or 10660/1333 DDR3the crucial memory modules @ 8500/1066 have a lower cas Latency are these beter for my purposes and my other question is:
If i were to enter bios and reset the memory timings and voltage as you sugest would this not overclock
the CPU which i was trying not to do. My goal is not a Gamer rig but i may still add a graphics card more for the
HDMI Video capability and beter display for my graphic design and Photo Editing?

I wan't suggesting overclocking, but just making sure that the RAM is set to the voltage and timings that its manufacturer recommends. (It ought to be, automatically, but you should check.)

I don't do a lot of photo editing, but I think that the higher speed RAM would be faster for that, even if it has higher latency. (Latency is less important if you're moving around large blocks of data.) That assumes that your motherboard will run the higher frequency RAM at its specified frequency. (It may not. I'm running Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1866. The SPD setting for it is DDR3-1333, so getting 1866 requires either setting my BIOS to use XMP instead, or setting the frequency manually. I choose the latter.)

Thank you, bobkn for the advice i think i will order the ram from crucial as you
suggested and take it from there sory about the confusion on overclocking but
this was my first ever build and i still have plenty to learn. Your patience is
appreciated. Oh and my appologies to gregrocker who i hope reads this, i was offline when he posted the question asking if i was booting from the underlying OS or from disk the answer was disk however the point is now moot as the OS is now up and running. And yes gregocker i can answer a simple question if i am aware
that it has been asked. I am a newbie to the forums as well as the build and i am
sory if i have irritated anybody.
