New Case Help

I'm thinking about buying a Lanboy Air case. Problem is, my board has only 2 sys_fan headers and 1 pwr_fan header. I want to add 2 fans to the top meaning I'd have 2 front, 1 rear, 2 side and 2 top fans. Is this possible with my board? Any advice would be much appreciated.

You can look for fans that have molex connectors, or have a 3/4 pin molex adapter.

Low RPM fans can be run off of 4pin molex as Liquid Snak states.

I'm running the three 230mm off Molex. They run about 600rpm all the time.

You can usually run two 3 pins up to 120mm off one 3 pin mobo plug up to 1500rpm. RPM's over that make the amp draw to high.

Next thing is a fan controller. Usually handles 3-5 fans at once.

Good idea but with my current case, the front and rear fans are connected (ie: use the same header) This is great. I can't seem to find if the lanboy is similar. Like do the 2 side fans use the same header. If not, I'd need to buy a few adapters to run them all.

Zalman has a great line of products. It should work just fine for the extra fans that you want to control on your own.

That gives you 3- 3pin and a PWM.

It has a Molex plug which will be the power into the unit.

Zalman makes good stuff. Though I can't say yes or no on this product. Never used it.

Looks top of the line.

Newegg doesn't list it so no customer reviews there.

Google it and check reviews by users and pros as you would do any product.

Check several for comparison reviews.

Just beware the warnings and hook up the CVS properly.
No BRICKED mobo's allowed!

There is a manual to download. You can read it ahead of time.

Plugging in the CVS Cable of the CVS into the motherboard’s USB port may damage the motherboard and CVS.

If the current to be measured exceeds 10A (RMS), use a cable or conductor that allows current greater than the current to be measured to flow through it, and always connect protective grounding prior to use of this instrument.

Got a new problem. The fans on the case have molex connectors and I can't find the right adapter to connect them to the fan controller. I'd rather not have all the fans running off the psu if possible. Any suggestions?

By those other two cables do you mean the wires that end in the little black box? Those are potentiometers, IIRC and you can use a jeweler's screwdriver to adjust your fan RPM manually.

EDIT (2): With those adapters, will I lose the ability to monitor/control speed. Won't the fans run at full speed only?

Sorry to be a party pooper but the leads from PCCG won't work.
You need the leads that LiquidSnak linked to.
I have an Antec 900 and I just Piggy backed the molex plugs from the fans and connected them to one lead of the power supply.
The fans have a three stage switch which controls the speed of the fans and can be set separately to the speed you need.
I got a bit fancy and cut the controllers off the end of the leads and ran them to switches that I mounted in a spare bay and now i can controll them without opening the case.

I'm trying to avoid using the psu and connect all fans to a fan controller (the Zalman I linked to previously)
The adapter LS linked me too will work but won't I lose the ability to monitor/adjust speed? (if it comes to that then so be it I guess. I can piggy back the 2 rear fans and run the other end to the controller yeah?). Looking at the a pic of all the front connectors, I can't see the plug for the 2 front fans... Those fans you linked to are the Antec Tri-power that comes with the Antec90 and cannot be speed monitored because they have a three speed controller conected to each one,have a look at the pic and you will see the lead with the little controller box on it. you can only have them running at one of the three speeds that they are set to.

Yeah thanks. I get that. What I don't know tho is how the front 2 fans connect. I don't see it in the pic (unless that's it under the power_sw connector and both fans run off 1 connection)

EDIT: I found the connectors on other pic. They also use molex so I ordered a couple of molex to 3 pin female adapters. I'm pretty sure I finally know what's going on and what I need to do. Thanks guys.

The best thing to do is replace the fans with decent ones that do not sound like a jet engine and you can connect a controller to.

You can still use a fan speed controller, but you will need to set the three speed built in ones to the highest setting. All a fan controller is is pots and a display. You might have an inaccurate RPM readout, however, if you use those fans.

I just bought some Xigmatek fans, and they are nice and big, quiet, and look pretty smokin, if it comes to replacement fans.

Since I've ordered everything, I'll see how it goes. If it's not what I want/too noisy etc, then Yeah, I'll replace the fans.

Noctura's ugly but oh so quiet and they push and pull like few others ! Quiet means they can always run wide open and then no settings needed!
