Only had pc 3 weeks. Was reading email when suddenly BSOD! Got an error code BIOHD-2 no drives detected. After spending hours and days on the phone with HP with no fix, they agreed to refund my money. I've seen hundreds of these types of issues on HP's forum. Thought about getting a Dell. Checked their forum pages and found the same thing. What's going on? Is it bad motherboards, processors, hard drives? Or is it Windows? I'm thinking of switching to Mac but that means all new software. Is there a high performance pc out there that's RELIABLE?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a new high performance computer. Is it better to get someone to build a custom machine, stick to name brand manufacturers, or switch to mac? I was shocked to see all the posts about BSOD on new pc's and lack of support from HP and Dell.

Personal opinion. Asus is really good right now. HP businss laptops are good, for some reason their home pc's are crap right now. All companies have been using tech that pushes the envelop or has low yield problems for chips and such. As these are used, more hardware failures are seen and RMA's become more common.

Macs are not exempt from this either (they use the exact same hardware) and there have been a few issues with certain lines of Macs. They are nice in their own way and for the software issue, you can still put Windows 7 on it too lol, but it is very expensive in comparison with equivelent hardware.
