Only had pc 3 weeks. Was reading email when suddenly BSOD! Got an error code BIOHD-2 no drives detected. After spending hours and days on the phone with HP with no fix, they agreed to refund my money. I've seen hundreds of these types of issues on HP's forum. Thought about getting a Dell. Checked their forum pages and found the same thing. What's going on? Is it bad motherboards, processors, hard drives? Or is it Windows? Or is this normal? I'm thinking of switching to Mac but that means all new software. Is there a high performance pc out there that's RELIABLE?

This is my own personal opinion, but as someone who analyzes BSOD's I am finding that a majority of them are 64bit. It seems like 64bit is more finicky when it comes to memory. After a bit of tinkering they usually go away. My Dell had 1 BSOD and that was basically my fault. I have had good luck with the high end dells.

Welcome to the forums photopro60!

@ least HP is refunding you... they are not usually so nice! There are plenty off good choices out there... for better components, service, & support look for business class systems not consumer systems.

You didnt say if you are looking for a desktop or laptop...??? <--- that is important to answer your Q.

You need a trick system with an awesome graphics card(s) and mega quantities of memory!

such as Alienware....

You might also want to consider a custom built rig instead of a store bought /mail order rig. See if you can find someone like myself, who is a Microsoft Authorized System Builder in your area and consider a custom rig taylored to YOU! I'd say spending around $1000-$1500 outta do fine.

Custom built is definately the best option. Even if you can't build it, you can specify the parts you want and have it built (usually for a small fee) You'll also get a better system for the money you spend
