Dell XPS 8700 - Windows 7 Professional purchased from Costco.

I entered my name and a password. But I want it to boot up into my Desktop without having to sign on like my other Windows 7 desktop

I am the only user and I also want to be the Administrator and Owner.

Do I have to start over?
How do I do that? There is a recovery partition, but no CDs came with it.

Thanks, cb

The info in the link says I have to be in an administrator account.

When I try to make changes to the system, it says I have to be an administrator, then I have to click Continue.
Can I still do what the link says?

If you are the only user, then you should be an administrator. The built-in administrator is usually disabled.

If what you are telling is you are getting that as a warning then go ahead and click OK. At worst you won't be able to make a change.

If you can't make the change then try:
- Open start menu and write "netplwiz" in the search box as said in the link, the program will show in the upper part. Right click on it and select "run as administrator".
- Adjust and apply as link advice.

That worked.

I thought I did that. I'm checking and unchecking so much stuff that I got mixed up.
Onward to Macrium - My Passport External Hard Drive just arrived. cb

Here is how to: Turn Off Windows 7 Password Protection/Automatically Logon to Windows 7 Without Entering and User name or Password.

1. Press WIN (key)+R to get the RUN menu.
2.The USER accounts window will now open up.
3.Look for the option saying.* Users must enter a username and password to use this Computer.
4."uncheck this option and press OK.
5.Now a window opens up asking you to enter the current password you use to log into Windows 7
6 Enter the password and confirm. Done!
7.From now on when you boot to Windows you will not be asked or prompted to enter the USER Name and Password.
