Hi,

I've just recently purchased a new computer, specs as follows.

Gigabyte mobo p55a-ud3r for intel i5 socket
Radeon 5850hd 1gb
4gb corsair xms dual channel ddr3 1600mhz
1tb western digital hdd
Core i5 intel 2.8ghz
600watt PSU zalman

The problem:
I install windows 7 ultimate with factory default bios settings. it installs, restarts several times as indicated then loads upto start first time in which it then instantly turns off and 3 seconds later turns back on again.... Brand new system and it doesn't work in the windows 7 environment as of yet. Only thing that isn't *brand new* is the PSU which mind u has only been used for a month or two. I've built my own systems for years so I'm not a total newb hehe.

I'm installing xp sp3 at the moment and waiting on the outcome; will update asap.

Thanks in advance for any ppl who help.

Paul

Do you have access to another PSU you can swap in at least temporarily??

Did that PSU work perfectly until the Win 7 install?

Do you mean that the Win 7 install has not completed?

The windows 7 install just gets into the "starting windows for the first time" then resets. Ill try another psu.

Update; windows 7 doesn't even get to install now and xp either. That indicates to me that there is a hardware problem or bios issues (new mobo though so bios I'm unsure about).

I've tried setting sata to AHCI in bios which didn't work.

Trying some tests on cpu, memory etc.

I don't have a psu spare and I'm considering it may be the source as it sat around in a garage for a year wrapped in plastic. But I'm not sure enuf to go buy a brand new psu
