New external disk probably set up wrong

I installed an external disk to be used as a data disk ONLY and its not acting as expected. Attached is a screen shot of the disk management page. Can somebody tell me if the disk in question is set up correctly for data use ONLY. It is the smaller of the two disks ( disk 1).

I'm thinking everything looks fine, assuming the capacity is correct. It looks to be about a 120 to 128 GB drive. Is that correct?

It looks OK except that it does not really have to be 'active'. But unless you set it first in the BIOS boot sequence, nothing will happen. And if the system ever tries to accidently boot from it, you get a "Bootmgr missing".

Looked elsewhere and I can find nothing.
Oh! and another thing I noticed was two folders kept being added. Their names are "$RecycleBin" and "System Volume Information".
I should have only one folder, "MyBackups". Instead I have three. I delete the first two and the next time I open the disk the first two are baaaack again.
What causes this?

That is quite normal. If you go to the top right of the page (in explorer) click on organize, click folder and search items, then click the view tab, click the radio button 'do not show hidden files' OK your way out, they should be gone. What problems are you having? If you could tell us specifically the problems you are experiencing, maybe we could help. But, every drive has a recycle bin and system volume information, they are just usually hidden files.

You can remove the recycle bin if you wish. Right click on the recycle bin on your desktop and chose properties. You will be presented with options for any drive.
