Recently, I noticed that I had two "my documents" folders. I right clicked on one and it told me how much space was being used and all the usual stuff. If I clicked on the second folder, it told me that I
didn't have access to it. (I am logged in as administrator.) When I right click on it, it just tells me that it
was created the same day as the original folder and nothing else. I suspect that it might be empty. Now, this is starting to happen with a few more of my folders. (new folder created and unable to access.) And while it hasn't created a second folder for my "send to" I can no longer access it. If this is malware, I am not sure what program to use to find it. I have Norton anti virus. I have been told to clean the registry and to create a new profile. This is weird and I cannot figure out what has happened so suddenly. Not sure how to proceed.

Also I just noticed that in the explorer window in the left pane where it has example "yellow folder" "my documents". At the bottom left hand corner of the "folder picture" it has a little white arrow curved to the right. It is that way on all the folders I cannot access. When I right click on these folders and go to security, it says that I have the right to operate these folders.

Those are junctions there for compatibility with old programs. There is nothing in them. Just leave them be.

The reason you are seeing them is from showing protected system files.

Thanks for the quick reply. That did the trick. I was searching for a lost folder the other day and I forgot that I had changed it to show all files. Thanks again.
