New GPU Titan X = Lots of problems and horror !

Just a note for the future.

Any time you do a fresh install of Windows 7 you should get all needed Windows 7 Updates including SP-1 before installing things like PS or other programs.

I am not sure if this is the procedure listed in clean install tutorial, but only thing I install before Windows Update is current chipset drivers. Then finish Windows Updates and continue with other drivers. Software is the last.

The way I do it is pretty much simple.

1. Install Windows, SP1, all needed updates. *Activate*
2. Install MSE and update
3. Install Malwarebytes and update.
4. Then install programs one and a time and verify things still work as they should.

*Lots of reboots in between things whether they are requested or not.

* During all this I let Windows 7 choose what drivers are installed. I can always go back later and sort through Drives if I so desire or need to.

*Getting Windows 7 working properly and protected is my first priority. Then I can tap dance with various programs.

*After I'm done and if I'm using a hard drive I defrag and then make a copy. If I'm using a Intel SSD I use the Intel Tool Box and then make a copy.

It really wouldn't take a that long if it wasn't for all the Windows Updates downloading and installing.

I seldom do a Clean Install because I don't have a need to.
Two computers so just two Clean Installs in the last few years.
I have done a couple of Repair Installs because of my over tinkering.
I blame my over tinkering on Global Warming and that makes me feel better.

This forum has several tutorials on Clean Install and Repair Installs that should meet just about every bodies needs. Millions have use them with success.

Note:
I do have Microsoft DVD's so I don't have to go looking for a ISO.

I think it's some hardware that isn't compatible, he minimizes PS and BSOD. It could be driver related or it could be hardware.

Ya think ?

He only added a Titan X, why would you think it`s hardware related ( says sarcastically ):sarc:

But seriously, after updating he should be fine.

Now all we need is a new driver from nvidia.

Which should be out within 2 weeks.

I myself am not having any issues with 353.30

Been a while since I posted this heh :- )

Well update... few months down the line and tried :

2x CPu
2x Mobo
3x GPu
5x HDD
2x PSU
2x ram sets

Andddd I still crash :- ))) Crash a lot !

Fking nightmare ehhh.

I think its to do with windows and nvidia drivers. I believe my 2009 win install disk is outdated and the default drivers it install conflicts with nvidia drivers and Titan X... so I'm downloading latest ISO I can get my hands on from MS + reinstalling windows tomorrow. But this time I will put nvidia drivers 1st and then all the SP's and then chipset drivers. So that I know that the drivers are running properly. Not sure if it will help but we will see...

I'm also considering installing windows on 680 gtx and then replacing card... but not sure if that would help.

End of day instead of bluescreens I'm getting apphangs now days and silly crashes.

Like if game (Smite.exe) crashes. I cant start game again until I restart PC :- ))

Btw thanks every one for help and ur time!

That has nothing to do with it. And ram does not turbo, only the cpu.

That`s just what Intel advertises, they are not in the habit of listing oc ram, they never have, that`s up to the board manufacturer.

the 4790K only list as high as 1600, but I`m running 2400 and higher.

the 6700K only lists 2133 and we all have seen it run much higher ram.

OC ram does not run at OC speed until you set it to, it runs at factory speed out of the box.

My Trident X runs at 1600 until I tell it to run at 2400

TridentX - F3-2400C10Q-16GTX - G.SKILL DDR3 Memory

Go ahead run Linux, let us know if it crashes :)

Zorin OS - Home

Get a fresh fully updated install of 7 SP1 64 bit on a Samsung or Intel SSD in your PC and the latest nVidia drivers and you will never crash again
