new graphics card help

hi i have an ati mobility radeon hd 540v the specs are:

512mb
500/700mhz core/mem
80 stream line processors
direct x 10 (i think)

im planning on upgrading to the ATI 5450

1gb
675/800mhz core/mem
80 stream line processors
Direct X 11

so this is a laptop, and the 5450 is the highest/fastest card that i am physically able to upgrade to. i am also planning on overclocking... id figure the OC safe is 775/900mhz so 100mhz over stock. idk till i do it. but how many more fps, will i get roughly, and will i be able to raise the resolution a bit more? like in MW2, i have texture and map resolution on extra, but only on 1280X768. will i be able to bring that up to my full 1366x768? on the same texture and map resolution?

games like Black Ops, where its the lowest possible textural and resolution, just to be able to play, i want more fps, so its just at least more playable.

also im working on getting a better cooling pad for the extra heat from OC. and ive upgraded everything except GPU, so this is the last thing lol

with that card being overclocked you will probably pic up 2 extra frames that is a low end solution but ...

like you were saying lower some of the settings of the demanding games and resolution wise will only go as far as what the monitor will support you can also use scaling options in the CCC once you have gotten the card in and tested

yea.... but its the only option i have for my computer as of GPU. i UNDERclocked my GPU 175/100mhz on core/mem from stock, to compare how much of a difference it made in Blackops, and it was crazy laggy.. but what is better tho? high resolution and low textural settings or vise versa? my screen only supports 1366x768

If you are already at a fixed resolution scaling option wouldn't even show up on the CCC the best thing is to OC the card as high as it can with stability and tone the settings of the game down like taking off v-sync will defently help you out because your FPS won't be resrticted if you do the recomended adjust ments you will be able to play pretty decent frames and un-noticable lag

well its not fixed. i can lower it.... but the highest is that. also would i be able to play battlefield 3? cause thats trhe game i really want to play. specs are there VVVV but with the 5450 GPU OCed?

i tested on System requirements lab, and itsaid fail because of GPU. but everything else passed.

Ok seriously can i give you some real advice ?

If i were you I would Purchase a Motherboard new Ram and a better Cpu take those parts get a case and a certified Psu
after that go ahead and purchase a higher end video card honestly man 30 dollars is nothing
and you have been told already that you will not see any difference in performance

so i mean you keep asking if this or that will work just go ahead and do yourself a favor spend some money and build or buy something that will actually get the job done your unit is simply past due it's prime

I'm not a heavy gamer. I play only on the weekends if that. Basically if the games are playable with decent fps like around 60 I'm happy. I'm no hardcore gamer or nothing. That's y I'm shooting.g to get this card. All I do on my computer is internet make vids and casual games.
