New guy, with a big problem

Definently psu issue. NO QUESTION. If a compter turns off due to software issue it usually shuts down as if you pressed the button in the start menu. Not as if you unplugged it from the wall. 600watt psu would be best. And if you upgraded in the future it would support that too.
Sounds like a pretty good build too other than the psu!

Ok, the new power supply is in. I am typing this from the computer that was giving us problems.

Its only been on for a few minutes so I guess I'll see what happens. Hopefully this will solve the problems.

Again, thank you all for the help.

I'm honestly surprised that system booted with only a 250W PSU, even before the graphics card was introduced. I guess that's another reason to add to the list of why people avoid eMachines like the plague. That's an embarassment on their part for shipping that PC with so little power. Anyway, glad it seems to be working.

I forgot to post again, but it is working great.

Thank you all for the help. This computer was given to us as a Christmas gift. My first choice probably wouldn't have been an eMachine, but except for that hiccup I love it.

After being inside the case so much and reading so much about computer lately, next time I think I'll build my own computer.

Thanks again,
Joey

eMachines have always been solid computers with quality name parts but a bit underpowered as they aren't much intended for gaming.

I often see eMachines that are 7-8 years old.

Hopefully Acer will assure their quality now that I see they are coming up out of the single-core bargain basement where they resided before Acer bought them.
