I ordered a new Samsung hard drive which will arrive Monday. I have Windows 7 backed up several different ways. Cloned on a spare HD right after the original activation, and several different images backed up on external HD. My question is...... Do I need to do anything special to the new hard drive, and how do I go about re-installing when I do swap drives?

Lord make my word sweet, in case I have to eat them later...
When you open Disk Mgmt after adding HD, it should open a wizard to Initialize Disk.

If not, rightclick on the HD to Initialize.

However, most cloning or imaging operations are done to unallocated space so if it applies formatting it may need to be removed.

Others can correct me if I have this wrong as I am working from low ram memory here.
