Solved New i7 build cycles on and off?

Thanks so much, I knew it would all work out and as soon as I mentioned the 3770k the tech said it was the bios needing an update and who's going to go buy a Sandy whatever to load and do the update ? So this works out real well for me !

Tell me about it. Now here's a good question, I have a W7 Home Premium upgrade 3 pack and also a currently used W7 Ultimate on my old AMD 8 core haha. There really isn't going to be any practical difference loading the Home Premium versus the additional work involved with loading the Ultimate on the new i7 rig and then removing and installing the Home premium on the AMD rig.
I'm now leaning on just taking the path of least resistance and loading the Home Premium on the i7 rig and calling it a day. One last point is these are upgrades put I also have a single W7 Home Premium that I used for my girlfriends system....I could use that disk and then just put in the upgrade key right?

That should work, but an update is supposed to only work with an activated W7. You can try this. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31402-clean-install-upgrade-windows-7-version.html save you from 2 installs.

Edit: I don't think that will work. You can't upgrade HP to HP.

I have a valid XP product key so I should be ok for this upgrade. Then I have a lappy with Vista I can do the same later.

I wondered what you meant by "new old board". With such high end hardware why gamble on someone else's problems?

I had a MSI GPU once and when I went for support they told me their forum had many knowledgeable people who could help.

Some ATX boards have an extra screw about mid-board, under the RAM slots.

I know the mod on GSKill forums who builds PCs professionally and he said he won't even use a MSI board unless the customer insists on it due to their lack of support and crappy products. Your AMD MSI board is a stroke of luck I think.

MSI is not really that bad all manufacturers has bad models.. i had batch of gigabyte motherboards that failed a lot.. had asus motherboardas that failed too..
Really it depends on model revision and lots of other things luck too. lots of people say asrock motherboards are bad but i have not seen them fail more than any other manufacturers mb.
it is not luck to have good MB because thats like 90% chance or so.. its unlucky to get failing one

OK so I'm trying to load my W7 into my optical drives but they light but don't open to inset the disk? Checked my connections both sata and power and they are good.

Use the paper clip trick. Insert it into the little hole in the drive and push to open the tray.

I'm not sure how that can happen. Most connectors are keyed in some fashion to insure proper installation. Please explain.

Tell me about it only a close look revealed the issue. The latch that secures the cable was reversed and the cable just slipped on and off with ease, reversing it made the connection snap and voila.

I would mark that with a felt tip pen by drawing a line on the connectors when they are plugged in correctly so it can't happen again.
