new internal hd arrived

hi guys recently my hd failed after 3months seagate 7200 500gb so i sent it back and i got a new 1 deliverd today , question is , is there anythink i need to do in the bios i am on it now im hearing weird clicking in my tower . fast clicking

The clicking is probably just the HDD being normal. I replaced my near-silent 80GB 2001 HDD for a new 200GB Maxtor. The Maxtor is incredibly clicky.

There quite a few of HDDs that make a ton of noise. More than likely it is fine.The noise is probably it reading and writing to the disk. If your old HDD only lasted 3 months, did you try to contact Seagate and have them replace it? I recently had a WD drive that they replaced after a year and a half. All it cost me was shipping to them. Check them out online and see it they will RMA it. You may be surprised!!

its the cpu it must be loose somewere coz i pressed the fan in a little bit at the back and the click went away just dont want to open the cpu its got a sticker on and im still under warranty , the time was way off tho after installing windows 7 on it

edit..tomrdiedrich i got the computer from a website which has nothink but bad reveiws they happily replaced it tho and ive read up about the type of hd i have and they tend to fail alot

It is the cpu? I thought u said the noise came from the hdd. I am a little confused. Are u talking about the cooler on your cpu? Is it. A ball bearing fan os a sleeve bearing? Sleeve bearings get full of crap and make alot of noise which may go away with slighht preasure. Please clarify where the noise is an d which componant.

i wasnt sure where it came from at first untill i opend up the side of the case and it is now the cpu fan , could be the bearing as i did apply some pressure to the fan pushed it in a little and the noise went away

yeh sorry thought it was the new hd because ive not had this clicking noise before.

remember to double check that the CPU fan cable is still connected. I was fiddling around inside my PC a while back and the cable came loose. It took me 15 minutes to realise and then half an hour franticly searching for something to cool it down with.

yer the fan is cool as

the windows expierience index did fail tho , failed to save the log file says will try again

Try just rmoving the fan and blowing it off with some air duster. It may work for a little while but in the end it is still a bad fan. If and when u replace it spend the extra couple dollars and buy a good ball bearing fan. Will be money well spent. Good luck.
