My wife just got a new Acer laptop and would like to NOT have the wireless turn on when starting up the PC. I know that clicking the fn+F3 turns the wireless on and off but she wants just click the power button on and walk away, then, if and when she wants wireless she can click fn+f3 for it to start. Is this possible and how?

Thanks for any help.

If you go into the Network and Sharing Center, then to the left look for Manage Wireless Connections, you can open up the wireless profile for this connection and uncheck the Automatic connection feature which allows you to connect as soon as the network is in range.

Instead of using the auto connection you can just click the network icon lower right taskbar, then click on your network connection in order to use the internet.
