Solved New Laptop Please Help! Problem Very Bad!!!

Hello as the title says the problem is very bad. it happened like this. i bought a new laptop dell inspiron 8 gb ram 2.5 ghz processor and intel hd family 4000 or whatever graphics. it was 64 bit (which i do not like) so i downgraded from 64 to 32 bit. (by clean installation). when setup was complete i saw that there was no aero theme and i rated my computer and it said that graphics card are bad. then i checked the graphics memory. it was converted to intel sand or something like it changed from hd family to sand something. any help?

Why would you downgrade to 32 bit ????????????

You have bought a machine with 8GB of ram and changed it so you will not be able to even use half of it

If you want my advice get rid of 32 bit and get 64 bit back on there, depending on how you changed it to 32 you may still be able to recover it to factory

I agree, put it back as it was when you bought it. w7 64bit is fine, most of us here at the forum use it daily.

What presumes you to believe that 32-bit is better? The specifications of your laptop are more than adequate to efficiently run under 64-bit. What you did is like owning a performance vehicle and fueling it with 87 octane gasoline, when it costs the same as 93 octane.

Go back to 64-bit and enjoy Aero.

The first thing that comes to mind is have you updated all the drivers off of the drivers disk that came with the lappy? If you didn't get this disk then go to the mfr's website and please down load all the needed drivers. As others mentioned we wished we could have worked with you before down grading but you have two options, keep the 32 bit and give up over half the factory ram on the machine or go back and clean install the 64 bit version. Either way there are a whole slew of needed drivers for the laptop that must be loaded and I hope your unit came with these on a disk?

You won't be able to run Dell Windows 7 PC Restore because it wipes away the F8 hotkey to run it when you Clean Reinstall.

So you'll need to download and burn the 64 bit for your licensed version to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Pay close attention to the tools and methods given to get and keep a perfect install, especially how drivers are handled in Win7.

Thank you for all the replies but i know that it was my mistake. so what do i do now? i got a black windows 7 disk it it said operating system. already installed on Ur computers. this software is already installed on your computer, use this dvd only to reinstall the operating system or drivers.
support for these products is provided by dell.

after this i inserted it in the laptop but on restart it did not detect it. in my computer it also did not detect it. the main problem is that my graphic cards downgraded from hd 4000 family to sandybridge. can anyone tell me how to use the disk?

If the disc is a win 7 install disc you will need to boot from it when you turn comp on, you can change boot order in bios do this or by pressing F8 on power up for one time selection

Why do you say you don`t like 64 bit.

32 bit and 64 bit are the same thing. ( You all know what I mean )

First off welcome to SevenForums we're all here to help and offer sound advice. As mentioned above please change the boot order to list the CD/DVD drive as the first boot device then tell us if the Dell W7 disk reads. Please consider moving back to 64 bit....the major reason is it will allow access to all of your 8 gb of ram installed making this set up much much faster in everyday use. W7 32 bit will only allow a slightly smaller than 4 gb normally around the 3.4-3.6gb range and you'll lose the function of the balance and what a waste that will be. Please note that the Dell disk should also have needed drivers for the mobo, intel chip set, graphics, communications and other vital systems.....don't forget to load these and a quick visit to Dell's site will provide you access to the latest versions of these drivers and they can be downloaded from Dell's support website. Let us know if you are able to get into the bios and change the boot order. Good luck and remember no harm has been done and all the work ahead for you will be a great learning experience.

Insert the DVD disc in the DVD drive while the system is on. Restart the system and at the Dell/BIOS splash screen hold down the F12 key. That will bring up a one time boot menu. Select the DVD drive as the Boot Device. you may have to look for a screen that says something like "Hit any key to boot from DVD drive. Hit a key on the keyboard. Continue with the install and when asked about upgrade or Custom Install select Custom. Erase/Delete All partitions and then Create one new partition. Just click Yes to any other dialog boxes that come up.

:huh: i think that i found the answer in this forum. i will try to download all the drivers including turbo boost wifi camera graphics adapter etc cuz nothing of these work. i will mark as solved if it is done

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - Be sure to ask back questions so you understand how to do each step. You didn't ask any questions before about these steps so I'm assuming you understand everything.

Do all of your optional and Important Windows Updates before bringing in any drivers from outside. Then any missing in the Device manager can be found on the Dell Support Downloads webpage for your tag number.

No, but I'd like to see how Win8 runs on the Intel surfboard if it's still around

His ram switched to using a single chip probably and then that would me also to single channel and that cpu with HD4000 or hd3000 wont use the single channel memory as shared graphic memory .. so no areo and lousy graphics probably with minimal memory.
