Hey,

I was just wondering i bought my new Acer Aspire 8942G and it comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit ( x86 ).:D

It also comes with the all new ATI 5850 direct X 11 Video Card and i was wondering what games i should get that will test the video card out ?:D

Im more of a PS3 boy myself lol but let alone cant go past PC graphics so i was wondering will something like Crysis and Crysis Warhead be a good buy ? I have modern warfare on PS3 already so it doesnt interest me to get the same on my laptop.

Please advise asap.

Thank You.:D

Try Dirt 2 you can use the DX11 in this game and if your PC runs DIRT 2 on the highest graphics, you'll be able play anything xD

Isn't x86 32-bit? Install the latest drivers with the guide in my sig - but go to the manufacturer's site. Honestly, a laptop wasn't a good idea. You are at the mercy of Acer for updates and fixing it will be a nightmare - games I would recommend are here:

Okay thanks heaps guys appreciate it :) Your responses helped me to look at some games for my laptop.

About the x86 thing , i checked in personlise under My Computer and it says that i have a 64-bit version of windows 7, the x86 i thought that means u have 64-bit? anyways i might be wrong sorry lol :o

the card will play any game you want. now personally in my opinion if you don't have the peripherals then some games aren't worth getting, a racing game on a keyboard is a PITA

The games I mentioned as example are games that I actually own and I'm using 64 bits Windows editions.
Anyway, just to clear your mind: x86=32 bits; x64=64 bits. :)
No matter if you have 32 or 64 bits Windows edition, always have your drivers up-to-date if you want to play the latest games. That will save you many headaches. ;)

Good luck and enjoy your new acquisition!

X86 does not necessarily indicate that something is 32-bit. Generally speaking if it just says x86...it's 32 bit. But you can find things that are labeled x86_64...which is the 64bit version utilizing the x86 instruction set.

You're right, PParks1. But I was refering that basically that's what x86 & x64 meant. In practice, using Windows 7 32 bits edition meant that you can run 32 bits applications and some old 16 bits applications. In Windows 7 64 bits edition you can run 64 bits and 32 bits applications, also giving a little better system security & performance at cost of using more RAM, that are really cheaper these days. :)
Also, the "x86-64" is (like PParks1's Wikipedia link says) the instruction set implemented in modern 64 bits processors that allow those processors to natively support x86 instructions without using any slow software emulation. :p
Hope it helps you. :)

If you ask me, I regretted wasting my money on some of them.
I can say that from all those I just play Resident Evil 5 (that is awesome), Street Fighter 4 (that is awesome too and can get fun with some friends), Batman - Arkham Assylum (I get addicted to this one despite of not being a Batman fan at all), Burnout Paradise (excellent racing game) and Dragon Age - Origins (excellent RPG). Those are my favorites because I'm really REALLY tired of first person shooters.
As FPS I can recommend Dead Space. That was the last one I really enjoyed a lot.
And about games with not so huge graphics, maybe you can try Trine (excellent 3D side-scrolling platformer), World of Warcraft (that's addiction! :p) and many other more getting back to the past. ;)
