Hi everyone, I just installed Steam to play Dota 2 for a change of genere of games and rest of Battlefield. Everything has been installed normally. When I click the Play button I get a window asking me if I want to allow SteamService.exe realize changes on the computer. Knowing that comes from Steam, I think we should allow access therefore should click OK. But if I click Cancel the game opens anyway. I have not played anything, just I've been there in the menu.

I wonder of you who have more time using the Steam. What is that process and if you play having to have accepted the execution of the process or do without that? :o It may sound silly my question But when it comes to "process" I believe there to be always cautious.

Regards.

SteamService makes the client more functional (Browser, Friends, Chat etc..). Without it Steam Client wouldn't work so well.

Lately I'm somewhat insecure about certain things.

I ask because when I install Origin did not ask me anything else. Apart from the browser extension for battlelog. So should not worry and should let that process proceed. You and others have no found inconvenient do that. Right ?

RoasterMen, as you say then it is important to have that allows it to run. So I tried to read out there to know more is that it has to do also for the application to work well with the drivers, Directx.
And that would be always running and consuming resources or It will finish when I exit the application ?

Hi, ThrashZone. Yes, this is the UAC warning me. And because it comes from the Steam folder and Dota (both of the same company) then it is safe to proceed.
May have sounded silly my question but I am new to Steam and install and run games from there is another experience is why I wanted to know a little of you who have time using the application :)

Steam is completely safe to use on your pc. I have been using steam now for over 8 years and no problems what so ever.
Here are a few tips tho when using steam.

1. Never ever give out your password for steam.

2. Enable steam guard it will help protect your account from hackers trying to steal it.

3. When and if you do trades always do trading in the trading window. With all chatting in that window so steam support has a record of what was said in case something happened.

4. Never ever let anyone talk you into giving them something in return for steam wallet funds or a game as 99% of the time it is a scam. Steam wallet funds are non-transferable.

5. Never enter your steam user name or password on any third party site as it may be designed to steal your username and password.

Just keep these rules in mind and you will have a very fun experience on steam.
