I think its the CPU or the RAM, My CPU is i5 3470, and RAM is Kingston 1600Mhz 4x2GB
the bios set my ram to 1333 for some reason when Installed the win, I set it back to 1600 manually. and it freezes after a few hours repeatedly.

here are my CPU-Z screenshots of CPU,Memory and SPD tabs, tell me if something's wrong.

Although your specs are way beyond my league, here a classic:try operating with only two sticks of RAM to find out if its due to bad memory.Repeat with the other two...

Boot into the bios. Load 'Optimized defaults" or if all you have is "defaults" load them. Save. Exit. DO NOT ADJUST ANY RAM MEMORY SETTINGS. Run your rig for a few hours like this and see what happens.

IMHO Unless you're running a $200+ 1155 board then the odds are yours is not overclockable and resetting the ram to 1600mhz could be affecting the system bus speed and making your system unstable......

Since this is a mobo issue if you could post the make/model of yours that would be most helpful....

Bus speed seems fine at 100.5 from the CPU-Z shot,

I'd run a few passes on Memtest 86+ to see if it's the ram. Do the old switcheroo as previously stated and ensure the slots are free from dust/hair/fluff (even new rigs)

When you changed the ratio to get the ram up to 1600, did you set the timings to those prescribed by the manufacturer, it looks right to the SPD screen, Perhaps even loosen them slightly if you feel bandwidth is more important than latency (which is a popular belief these days).. Did you change the voltage from 1.5 to 1.65 as per the SPD? And I have to run my 1.65v DIMMS at 1.62v or they loose stability.

Elitefx: The very picture you are talking about, Look at the XMP Column. It's there for 1600, and if XMP can do it then it's also manually adjustable, the CPU has gone OC to 3.6 though.

OP: The settings you are using may still be ok if you relax the timings a bit. You are on the P5Q, which supports a MAX bus of 1200Mhz, the RAM can do what the board cannot. I'm also on a P5 but mine is the Turbo :) You will be best loading defaults and then pushing the RAM no higher than 1200. The CPU will handle an OC as small as that on air, but keep an eye on your temps when under load.

Nice work......

Edit; The OP states "My CPU is i5 3470, and RAM is Kingston 1600Mhz 4x2GB" and yet in the SPD pic Slot 2 has a 4GB dimm so I don't know. Hopefully we'll get a mobo make/model soon.....
