The latest dumps have error codes all over the map which indicate a hardware or hardware related problem. Nothing definite was fingered as the cause.

STOP 0x0000003B: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory

STOP 0x0000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Usual causes: Insufficient disk space, Device driver, Video card, BIOS, Breakpoint with no debugger attached, Hardware incompatibility, Faulty system service, Memory, 3rd party remote control

STOP 0x0000000A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Usual causes: Kernel mode driver, System Service, BIOS, Windows, Virus scanner, Backup tool, compatibility

STOP 0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Usual causes: Device driver

STOP 0x00000005: INVALID_PROCESS_ATTACH_ATTEMPT

Usual causes: Specific known issue with XP SP2/Server 2003 and certain Antivirus or Firewall programs
Based on the last error code, 5, what firewall are you running? I know you are running Avast antivirus.

See if you can update these drivers:

amdxata.sys Tue May 19 13:56:59 2009 (4A12F2EB)
AtiPcie.sys Tue May 05 11:00:22 2009 (4A005486)

You already know about this driver; this one is needs to be updated ASAP.

Go to C-->Window-->System32-->Driver, looking at the list of drivers and check if it is there, then right click to the file and rename it from .sys to .bak

That's very common way to solve issue with un-updatable driver. In case you can't boot to normal mode (), you can boot to safe mode and rename the file

Regard,

Tuan

Try uninstalling the device in Device Manager, then rebooting and letting Windows automatically install the new drivers.

If that is the case, navigate to c:\windows\system32\drivers and rename it from .sys to .bak. That way, it will not load and if you find that it is needed, you can simply rename it to .sys. If you have tried renaming and your system wouldn't boot or other problems appeared, then you have a device that is using that driver.

Obviously, you need that driver. Maybe your best solution is to upgrade your network adapter?

Great, perhaps it was just an incompatible driver or something.

In any case, glad it's solved. ;)
