I am posting the Techlog, which is the first article I came across in this months PC World. While the article does make some sense, in that it is not possible to upgrade from 32 bit windows to 64 bit windows, I am finding that most of the article is pretty much Rubbish... particularly the part about not being able to find drivers to run Win7 in a 64 bit environment. I guess some may they have this experience, I however, have installed 64 bit on 5 computers now, and have loved the fact, that even when I did not have all the drivers out the shoot.. a simple windows update run pass, managed to pick up all my drivers like clock work..

This is a huge testament to the effort that was put into this release, and I feel it will only get better. What the article should have said...

if you are running 32 bit windows, and would like to make the move to Windows 7, you are going to have to re-install windows to successfully make the upgrade to 64 bit.. no biggy.. instructions abound, and if you need it, there is most likely a geek near you who can accomplish this small feat for a small fee.. Once installed, your computer should be able to download most if not all of it's latest drivers straight from microsoft's website. There are exceptions to this of course..

Here is the article..

What's the benefit of 64bit? running faster? well, not for long, hardware and software designers sure know a way of slow down and make requirements for replacements very soon. :D

The primary benefit is the larger address space in memory.
But the infamous Windows "bloat" will still be with us - requiring extra stuff on a regular basis.

Well, they must make some noises to justify their existence. No doubt that 64bit has many advantages. But as long as there are a lot of useful programs that do not run on 64bit, I will stay away from it. I rather use an SSD to speed up my system.
