What are you doing for a graphics card?

I'm unfamiliar with the capabilities of the graphics of the A10-5800k, but I doubt that they're great for gaming.

They are great for midrange gaming. Hold strong against mid level GPU's when overclocked with fast ram.
You just need how to tweak them and they will do good for a budget gaming computer.

However. At the moment I would not recommend any APU since Richland is coming up in March, and Kaveri is coming out later in the year. 28nm architecture, and apparently it'll be as powerful as the 8350. And able to go dual graphics with 7000/8000 series discrete cards.

All of them except planetside 2 will be smoked by the A10-5800K pretty much.

If you already have a 6570 graphics card, you could consider a low-end gaming machine based in an Intel I3-3220 instead of an AMD based one.

The onboard graphics of the A10-5800K would be much better than anything onboard from Intel, but the Intel plus the 6570 would probably be at least a little better than either AMD solution.

I'm not an Intel partisan. I suggest this only as something worthy of further study.

The A10-5800K IGP is more powerful than the 6570, so it would be redundant as a matter of fact.
Not to mention FM2 has a GREAT update path throughout 2013. Richland will trash i3, and Kaveri will start stepping on the i5 leagues WITH an IGP. So that will be some serious advantage with igp.

Hmmm... maybe so.

AnandTech - AMD A10-5800K & A8-5600K Review: Trinity on the Desktop, Part 1

No 6570, but The A8-5800k is clearly better than a 5570. Even beats a Geforce 440. Looks like it could be crossfired with a 6570 as well.

"Richland will trash i3, and Kaveri will start stepping on the i5 leagues WITH an IGP." It'd be nice. I hope that it's not overly optimistic.

I would not trust any source of information from anandtech to be honest. Not after they got severely fined for tampering with marketing information in favor of Intel.

Not trying to stir up a hornets nest. But from my personal tests, the A10-5800K will suffice and do as good a job as the 6570. Overclocked, it will do even better, but not like a 6670

Interesting. Can you supply a link to the story on that?

I've generally trusted Anand more than, say, Thomas Pabst an company. I'd be sorry to hear of payoffs that were so unambiguous that the legal system came into play.

Yeah, me as well.
If you could perform some research yourself I'd appreciated, sorry if that sounded rude. At the moment I am at work, and don't have much access to plenty of internet queries. Please bear with me.

I am not finding anything to online about it. I think he may have gotten his sites mixed up. Anandtech is one of the most respected and revered sites online, as well as [H]ardOCP...and they both make up the best of the enthusiast community. I thought Tom's Hardware was caught accepting payment and gifts in exchange for favorable reviews, but that would have been quite some time ago.

Yeah. I can put up with a lot of brand boosterism, but I tend to draw the line at slander. (Intentional or not.)

CrisyNova may find this of interest:

AMD FX-8350, FX-8320, FX-6300 and FX-4300: All Vishera Processors in One Review! - X-bit labs

It confirms that the FX-4170 is similar in performance to an I3-3240, which is a little faster than an I3-3220. (3.4GHz for the 3240 vs. 3.3 for the 3220, or 3%; trivial difference.) Looks like the FX-4300 (Vishera) is a bit of a step backwards from the 4170 due to the halving of the L3 cache.

Jeepers creepers, the prices in the UK. In the US (www.newegg.com), an FX-4170 goes for $125 (with free shipping). At the current exchange rate, that'd be £80. Add 20% VAT, and it's still £96. £119 seems ridiculous.
