Solved New Router

I ordered a new router, Arris/Motorola Surfboard SBG6782-AC. Since I know Zilch about routers is there any settings I should consider that differ from the default. It won't be here till Friday and I probably will set it up Saturday. I don't understand these things. The one I am using was plug and play and I never had any problems with it. It is about three years old and I decided to upgrade. It was a Linksys Cisco E4200.

The Linksys was my wireless router, I used it in conjunction with a Time Warner supplied cable modem.

Hello,

I would suggest that you contact your internet service provider and ask them to give you their settings. The new router will come with a CD with a setup wizard, providing you have your Username and Password (if applicable) then it should be relativity simple to replace.

Firewalls

I can run with the router firewall off or I can run with my software firewall off (Norton's firewall). But I can't run with them both turned on. With both turned on it is unbearably slow and most of the time I get unable to find server. What is the best solution to this?

Adjustments

As I make adjustments the situation is getting better. I can now run both at the same time.
