New start, new course.

Hello everyone, to put my life into a very short story, i did bad in school worked factories for a little while but have decided thats it, i need to take steps towards a career and what better than being a computer tech! I enrolled in a course 3days ago and will be receiving my books any day now to start studying. The course should not take too long to do, but what i was hoping for was info, basically anything useful related to computers, hardware wise and OS wise, in the form of PDF's info tabs ect, you see while this course is great i am 99% sure that there is a lot more to learn out there, and if i can get a head start on that, it will increase my chances to progress further and lets face it, learning about this is fun, or at least for me anyway. So if you have a few PDF's or anything like that could you please post link in here, or PM me ect, the time you spend linking me wont go to waste as i will be studying hard. I really hope this is the right place to put this subject, and just so you know, i know there is an obscene amount of info on this site, but because it is a forum that info is scattered all over the place, so collecting it and organizing it will be next to impossible for me. Thanks in advance just for reading this, i realize i talk way too much and way too often ^^

You're really asking a question that is so wide open nobody can give you a good/correct answer.

A "Computer Tech" "related to computers, hardware wise and OS wise" is a never ending lifetime learning experience.

Learn whatever you can in your course, and hopefully you will have a good teacher that will help you as much as you want.
It is the first step in the journey

Start by picking one area of study to focus on.
Hardware, Software, Windows, MAC, Mainframe, Server, Corporate Support, Home User Support, Security, Programming, DB specialist ...

My guess is the SF experts here have spent several years in learning Windows 7.
They have taken the time and put in the effort to create the tutorials and share their knowledge.
Many of them seem to also have a lot more years in Technology related experience...other than Win 7.

If you think the SF forums info is scattered, re-think what you are asking for as far as "Computer Tech" and all the info available on the web...
I wouldn't even want to guess at the number of PDF's related to "Computer Tech" that are out there...

I understand what you are saying and by scattered i just mean that ona day to day basis of looking at it, it would be much harder remembering exactly where you are and where it is on the forum each time you want to view it. The course i am taking focuses on basically everything hardware wise (Not SSD for some reason) and it goes into Operating Systems, BIOS, file Management ect. Sorry for the question being so vague, i just meant if there is anyone out there who is either a Computer Technician (Thats the job i will be looking into after the course) or simply has a lot of info regarding the things they have to work with on a day to day basis then to throw it my way and i will sort through it all, organize it and then study it. I do however understand at the vast amounts of info out there, but as i said, i will just organize everything i get into categories and get to it when i can, though if i cant get any PDF's ect i think i will just look in the guide section and see what i can get there, the only problem is as i am new to this, its hard for me to know exactly what would be valuable and what would not be.

I am too young for college, but I will tell you that I have learned what I know from other people, Internet research, and failure. When I screw up my computer, I learn not to do what I did then and I learn to fix the problem and not hurt anything again. If you enjoy learning about computers, learning about them will be easy and fun. If you don't enjoy learning about computers, then learning about them is going to be miserable and frustrating. If you really enjoy learning about computers, then start learning

If there is one first lesson i suggest it's:
Learn to BACKUP and RESTORE - data and OS/programs !

I just wish i knew about Seven Forums a few years ago - would have saved me a lot of time and pain

Well im 19 but its a home learning course so i get to do it all at home, though it did cost a fair amount :L
Yeah that's true windude99, i really do enjoy learning about computers, that's why even though i just got loads of books of info i still want more! Plus it would come as a benefit to know more when i come into a job in the computing industry.

Yes, i am fairly new here, but love it already, everyone is kind and there is so much info on the site, i dont think i have come across a problem that i have not already seen fix's for on here!

Time to browse the Guide Forum! See what is there, that's new to me.
