This is the one I'm looking at.

The Megahalem with two Akasa Apache fans + clips comes to £69.19

This Tuniq, as you can see is £34.99

No question that the Tuniq is better value but I'm spending a lot of money and this chip is gonna run at 3.8 or 4Ghz.
I don't want to spoil the ship for a halfpence of tar ( quaint english saying)

If you're going to be running it that high, I'd suggest the best cooling you could get.

Though at that price, you might look into this.

What width is your case? Measure from the motherboard to the side panel.

Hey Swarf (or anybody else) I have 165mm from the motherboard PCB to the window in my case (less than that from the CPU to the window). The Tuniq is listed at 131 x 108 x 153mm FOR THE HEATSINK. does anyone know if this means the base of the heat spreader and the heat pipes to the top of the heatsink or just the heatsink? Are they calling all of it a "heatsink" this is the reason I don't already have one of these coolers. I can't figure out if it will fit.

Hello Nate, I just opened my case and measured the Tuniq from the base to the top, as I was closing the case I remembered I took this pic when I was installing the Tunic.

Just over 6 inches = 160mm

Thanks BFK, now I just have to figure out how many mm from the motherboard PCB to the top of the CPU. I'm pretty sure it will fit. Most people who use these don't have giant cases I'm sure. Tuniq must engineer these to fit in mid-towers. (just barely) I think I will get one. (I have been surprised by this cheap one I have)

When I was measuring (with my computer running) I must have shorted something with the metal part on the end of the tape measure. My computer reset. A brand new P55 board! I almost had a heart attack! I just spent an hour making sure everything is working. I have the 860 running at a cool 3.6Ghz (32C) and the RAM at it's specified 1600Mhz. I will NEVER touch that board again with anything metal. Holy crap!

Have a look at the height on the new Tuniq 120 Extreme; just make sure the bracket will fit your 1156 socket.

Yes, at the place I normally get my components, they have 2 (two) that fit the 1156 right now. I will have to wait until the manufacturers come out with brackets. You can most likely get one special order but.....they are few and far between right now. This is why I got CoolerMaster TX3. At the time, it was one of two I could find on the net for 1156.

Thanks Zen. I did some research on these coolers and they seem to provoke violent disagreements on various forums.
They were last weeks special offer on my retail site.
This week:

It's a nightmare deciding which one to get. I 'll decide finally tomorrow. I'm off work so I can do some further research and then ring them.
If they'll vary the offer I may yet go for the Tuniq, the H50, or the Megahalems.
