I have wireless but it hasn't been turned on in weeks. I only use an Ethernet cable. I rebooted my pc a while ago and found this in my networks "COMPANY-4C60A99"

A google search does nothing. All my networks go away when i unplug the cable. Only other network I have in the house is my wife's pc and a network link to my own pc.. (dont know why it needs to be there but I enabled share on a few folders so the wife's drive will see it, and thats when my computer decided to "see" my computer)

But thats no biggie.. both of those are accounted for is the thing. Could this Company be something having to do with my router/modem? The wife could not have made a change on either of our pc's to account for this. I'm just baffeled. I cannot connect to that network.. I check it with a troubleshooter and it says all my hardware is set up properly but the network is not responding.

I discovered this possible solution from elsewhere:

"I have the same problem with Vista and 2008 Server.

The issue is that the ROUTE table contains a phantom persistent default route 0.0.0.0 to one of the network interface cards. This activates the "Unidentified Network" (Public) every time the network connection becomes active. Sharing permissions are turned off.

My solution is to use the Windows Command Screen as Administrator and remove all default routes.

ROUTE DELETE 0.0.0.0

This removes the default routes from all network interfaces. You must then reapply the necessary default routes to your interfaces (Do not use address of the network adapter as the default). If you have an isolated network (without any router, firewall, or gateway) with more than one computer -- I do this in a development laboratory -- is to choose for default address for Vista, 2008, Win-7, to be the IPv4 address of any other attached network interface.

I don't know why Microsoft deciced to make the default routes 0.0.0.0 persist in the routing table instead of just being bound to the network adapter. The network stack used by XP, 2000, 2003 systems do not have this problem."

Source: Unidentified Network appears every Windows 7 reboot and stops NW access

As an afterthought, are you using a Home network or a Public network?

Thanks for the answers folks.

Speedgamer01, In the network and Sharing Center I do not see this connection listed, only my Home network between me and my wife that is set up through the modem/router.

Seavixen32, it doesn't disable network access, i'd just like to know what it is and where it came from. I'm using a Home network and only a wired one.

Are you by any chance using Adobe Photoshop CS3/CS4, because if so, Adobe's Bonjour service can create the scenario you mention.

Bonjour for Windows | CS3, CS4

Good to know cus I was thinking of trying Photoshop, but nope.. I use Paint.net and Gimp.

Could it be caused by a camera or software driver for a camera? I have two mini cams I was playing with yesterday, one a Jazz and the other a Flip but I never saw them make a network connection before.
