new user account problem

I am trying to create a new standard user account under Windows 7 64 bit system. Logged in as administrator and have produced 3 other standard user accounts in the past using the straightforward control panel process. This time I get the following error message when trying to logon to the new account -
"The user profile service failed the logon.
User Profile Cannot be loaded"
Didn't need to do anything about user profiles in the past.

Any help greatly appreciated.

After searching I've discovered a possible resolution.

Error message when you log on to a Windows Vista-based or Windows 7-based computer by using a temporary profile: "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded"

Thanks for the responses.
What makes my problem different is that I am creating a new standard account under administrator privileges. This error occurs the first time I try to logon to this new account. I thought the Windows OS took care of all the initial profile stuff in generating new accounts - it seemed to in the past.

Ah, I see. Delete the new standard account, then do a repair install. Afterwards, you should be able to create and log on to it.

I thought there may have been some simpler setting I could have changed since everything else is ok & I can do anything to existing accounts.

Ready to try Repair Install but I have an OEM Win 7 OS and not the discs containing the repair install. MS don't want to know about the problem and the OEM (ACER) only suggested I set back to Factory settings (F10 thing)...........Very painfull as I would need to reinstall all my applications, drivers etc.

What do you think? Can I still do a repair install without the disks??

Michael,

No, you would only be able to do a clean install with that.

You might see if you can do a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you had this problem to see if it may be able to help instead of a clean install.

Hi Michael,

You could try giving the new user administrative privileges when creating it to see if you can log into the account without problems. Once you have logged in and the profile has been successfully created, log out and back into your other account. Now, change the new account so that it has standard privileges.

I have tried creating an admin account and it makes no difference.
Clearly an OEM supplied Windows OS gives you far less control than the OS bought out of a box.

My final(?) crack at this one.
If I go back to a previous restore point the system tells me that I will loose a recently MS delivered update for the driver. Also the restore point screen advises that it will be deleted and no replacement exists - I would have thought that the OS would keep a copy of the last driver before it replaced it?? Given I don't have the driver disks (OEM Acer don't ship disks in Australia) does it mean I cannot restore back across a driver update point?? Others on the net have reported a similar problem "resolved" by going back to an earlier restore point.

Re: the initial problem - the problem persisted also in safe mode boot suggesting it isn't a driver conflict. I can do anything to existing accounts except it won't let me into Guest account when turned on. I can go into command prompt and create a computer adminstrator account (net user administrator /active:yes) and a desktop with my personal (standard user) shortcuts. Clearly you would never let a standard user near this acccount.

Although I use McAfee security I still accept the significant number of MS security downloads. It is strongly looking like an MS problem at this stage.
