Greg, If tou have a copy of it or know where I could get it I would pay... I am having a similer issue and that looked liek the easiest fix as I have a laptop and not sure how I could use your meathod with only one drive in the laptop....

Boot free Partition Wizard bootable CD (link above), take a camera snap, attach and post it back or write out the listings for each partition. If it will start post up the Disk Mgmt drive map with listings showing all columns.
The standard repair method is to mark the Win7 partition or it's 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred) Active using PW CD, then click on the HD to highlight it, from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR, Apply all steps.
If Win7 doesn't start, boot into Installation DVD or Repair CD, accept any offered Repair. If Win7 doesn't start, boot back in to run Startup Repair up to three separate times with reboot until Win7 starts.
Post back screenshot with results if necessary.
