New Win 7 machine can't see Acer Monitor X223W

I've finished an Intel quad core machine running win 7 64bit on an intel quad core mother board. The machine works normally with my old Gateway DVI monitor but does not recognize my Acer X223W monitor (DVI also) at all and so won't auto load the proper drivers as a plug and play device. One of the troubleshooter programs said something about "windows not set up to update drivers" but I can't find out where that is true in the program and I don't know if that is accurate or not. Anybody know how I can get my OS to see this monitor? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply and the driver. I've been trying to find the driver in that zip file but there is no executable file in there. When the zip is opened it shows three files with no sign of a driver or .exe file in them. I can't seem to recognize anything in that zip file that helps me................there is nothing I can see that loads a driver. When I got on to the Acer chat help desk they said there was no driver for the monitor, that it was a plug and play device that would run on Win 7 automatically. I"m stumped and getting a little crazy. As I said in my original post, one troubleshooting program said something like: "windows is not providing something" I've forgotten now what it said but it hinted that some setting was not right in the OS so I"ve looked hard in the setup program for the MB but nothing seems relevent. My problem is that the computer cannot see the monitor. It just doen't show up in device manager. The monitor works fine in vga mode during post and boot up to the point after the windows logo comes up and then goes blank. Something is keeping the monitor hidden from the computer. And it works fine in Safe Mode. So would you tell me please how to "point it to the .inf file"? Thanks.

I've just found a vga cable and hooked it up and it works perfectly. I'm wondering why the DVI connection won't work. I know the cable is ok because another computer was using it just before this one. Puzzled.

You said it yourself that you had a hunch it was a driver issue. DVI driver issue more specifically. VGA could be more generic/legacy type of driver compared to DVI.

Thanks! Right, I just haven't figured out to locate and install the driver. The .zip file when unzipped shows 3 small files none of which is a .exe file which I'm used to for driver installation. The ACER people said it's a plug and play device which implies that it uses a Windows 7 driver that, in my experience with Win 7, should be automatically located and installed very quickly. Something is keeping the computer from seeing the monitor when using the DVI connection. Maybe I'd better re-check the cable! I will do that tomorrow when I;m back in my shop.

Thanks ChrisNeji and 714. I rolled back to an earlier restore point and then again updated Win 7; then went to Device Manager and manually tried to install drivers. However there was no INF file in the zip folder. I could not find anything to load or use. Also, does the fact that my monitor is running on a VGA connection prevent anything happening to a DVI connection? Without the VGA connection I couldn't see anything happening in the machine. While updating all the latest updates for Win 7 after my restore change, I noticed that a ACER update had appeared. I ignored it so as to not affect what I was trying to do but perhaps it might be something that affects this problem.

If you go to Computer>Organize>Folder and Search Options>View>UNcheck Hide Extensions For Known File Types>OK. Then go to the zip file, you will see a .inf file.

I replied last night but somehow goofed and apparently lost it. I rolled back my restore point to a July point as the article said was necessary. I then followed the instructions on updating the driver. But....there was no INF file to which to point. No Vista driver any where. The zip file contained only 3 small files, none of which were useful in providing a solution that I know of. It must be a Windows problem and the advice from 714 and Chris1Neji are right on for the probable problem. But I still can't figure out how to fix it still. ACER wants $100 to provide support but I'd rather put that into a new monitor than give it to them for that. Windows 7 cannot see the monitor in a DVI connection...........that's the issue it seems. Many thanks to 714 and Chris1Jeji for their advice.
