New windows 7 dell pc restarts, no error or bsod

Wow thats a ton of replies!

@alphanumeric thanks for the info, sadly I tried this already and surprisingly it didn't change anything! It still kept restarting and I am still given no dump file or error screens

My dell pc is relatively free of Dell bloatware. It comes with a few things, most often used is Dell Dock. It also came with DataSafe local backup, Roxio, McAfee, PowerDVD. Thats pretty much it, and actually I could use some of it.

The factory restore should be fairly easy - I hear with newer computers they store a backup on a ghost drive or something that can be accessed on restart. Not only that, I as actually given a Windows 7 disc - OEM copy, but nonetheless, I can reformat and reinstall Windows myself finally!

And so far, no restarts in two days! Looks pretty good so far, I'm crossing my fingers

Why yes they did call back. Three days and not a single restart to report! It's looking pretty good right now, and I'm hoping it stays like this. However they managed to get me to buy an extended two year warranty, which I am now going to cancel because I really don't need it :p

Well guys, its been 5 days. Everything looked great. But I regret to inform you that at 9:40 pm last night my computer rebooted again. Kernel-power, event ID 41, task category 63. I don't know what I'm gonna do

run the built in memory tester Via F8 and then check the chipset with a burnin app or Sis2009/10 and see if it reboots with each test

cause i had it it was cause by dieing ram XMS2 sticks and my chipset USB/SATA interface was giving a ping of 2000ms via my USB Wifi card to modem XD.

Nate, call Dell have them send out a Tech. They will fix it they are an awesome company. The machine is very new and that is what the warranty is for. Heck in many cases they will come out look at the machine and then replace the motherboard, power supply, memory and CPU. Then everything works and you don't have to keep living with this problem.

Alright, I was just hoping it would be an easy fix is all. Also guys do you think its worth investing in additional warranty? An extra year is about $200 and an extra 2 years is $300. I've never had a hardware problem before with any other computer, its always been virus related and now I have my own OS disc.

I would get this problem fixed before committing to the extra warranty if you still are under warranty.

Tell that that and request an RMA or tech call as WS suggests.

My Dad got a Dell lemon which soured me on them. I sure wouldn't let them sell me anything else until I decide if I want to keep the machine because it is set right.
