Running Windows Pro 7 with all the goodies.
Giving this puter to Wiffie. It has Gmail on it but she wants Windows Live mail.
I tried for several hours to get Windows Live Mail to work. Keeps asking me
to sign in and won't accept my sign in or password.
It also hangs in synchronizing. I have no idea what's wrong.
Sure would appreciate some help. Or point me to where I can do some
research.

Uninstall any old Windows Live Essentials using Control Panel Features and Programs
Reboot
Download the latest - Windows Live 2012
Close all browsers
Execute install - select Mail (and any other apps you want)
Nothing I do gets me into Windows Live Mail.
Uninstalled all windows live references several times to no avail.
Already spent hours doing something thats should take 10 minutes.
Running Windows 7 Pro
If I try to sign in I get involvded in a loop that I can't get out of.
Have tried several IDs and Passwords. Microsoft will not accept my
identity and thinks I am an imposter
I am trying to use only the Windows Live Mail and not all the other
stuff in Windows essentials.
Can't believe it's this difficult.

@phenix: There's probably some garbage left over from the uninstalls
Uninstall WL again - make sure ALL components are selected in the uninstall!
Run cCleaner - Select only the Windows Live components in the registry scan and ALWAYS backup the ccleaner fixes.
Reboot.
Make sure that you have the 2012 version of WL, and try the install again.
If all else fails, we'll try a bigger hammer - search a destroy mission.
Thank you Slartybart for putting up with me.
It is now working.
I asked a question a few messages below about Windows Live Mail
and Hotmail. Nobody answered that one. Are they the same?

Windows Live Mail is a Windows based client that can be used with any eMail service provider (pop3 or imap connectivity - some are free, Yahoo charges $20/yr) I use many providers, including Yahoo.
Hotmail is MS's web based eMail - must be logged onto the web client.
MS tried to blur the distinction with the Live brand - it only confused things.
Just to note - Hotmail is being re-branded as outlook.com - you can try it if you want, but I think it's still in beta.
Glad I was able to help. Could you do me a favor? Scroll to the top of this thread and in thread tools - mark it solved - thanks!
