IF Windows7 Slate PC's stay on track as fully functional Tablet PC's
They could very well change the way Apple produces the IPAD to stay competitive.
They will put the Ipad in the garbage heap where they belong.

I am not at all sorry to say, but Ipads are Extremely and very much to the absolute limit of Grotesquely Over Priced garbage.

Those who purchased an Ipad are the very epitome of the saying,

"A fool and his money are soon parted"

We did not have any probelms with SP1 - did we? - I thought we did it the "smart way".

This is really impressive... I watched the whole thing, and then player automatically forwarded to the Windows Surface demonstration! Did anyone check that out, too? It looks amazing!

Oh yeah, the dual touch is exactly what I wish for at times, since there is no feature on dekstop PCs for multiple "workspaces" like in Linux, which is a lifesaver at times (that I know of since I bought my last GPU).

Just imagine using that dual screen PC and only having to clean fingerprints off the keyboard screen and no sticky keys or crumbs stuck in there.

Just how do you say it? There are four little letters in the name and I think I've heard about a dozen different pronunciations. I have no idea which is correct...

Appreciate the info, but this is pretty old stuff. And even though these tablets may look cool, I'm just not sure that MS can recover from the iPad. This is typical of MS- always 2 steps behind, sadly. Fortunately, MS found a hit with Xbox and Kinect. Personally, I think MS needs to lose the Start button, produce a Windows Live Tablet with a custom version of Windows 7 that is very kiosk-like, provide access to Xbox Live, Marketplace and Windows Live. I truly think it would be very successful, especially with over 30 million Xbox Live subscribers. I own an iPad, but I would buy something like a Windows Live Tab, definitely. It appears that MS is moving towards some sort of tablet product, especially with the recent ARM deal, but I may be too late already.

I don't know why you think this is old stuff. Those devices were only recently announced. But yes, MS is somewhat behind because they have no ARM support yet and have to put up with the boring Atom processor. But once Win8 surfaces, we will see a lot of action. Dell already said that they will have a Win8 tablet 1Q 2012 and from their cooperation with Nokia, they should get a lot of expertise in the Smartphone area.

So not everything is lost. Tablets will stay around for a long time and MS and their partners have the time to counter the iPad hype. 15 million iPads sold is nothing - the market is a couple of Billion. And the ARM processors also represent new opportunities in the laptop area. Those combined with SSDs will cut out the need for cooling. At the end of the year we shall see the Tegra3 - a 2.5GHz Quad. Then it gets really interesting.
