Striped volume requires multiple physical hard drives. Not just one.

One of your hard drives is a system drive, Windows is installed on it. You need two physical drives independent of the drive where Windows is installed. Partitions are irrelevant.

So you need three Hard Drives. One for Windows, two for stripping.

Stripped volumes (RAID 0) are generally overrated. The purpose is to improve performance but under real world conditions the gains are rather modest. In most cases RAID 0 is more trouble than it is worth.

i dont have more than 2 hard drive connecting places on my motherboard (one for cd/dvd drive one for OS drive) replaced cd/dvd drive with an HDD of 250GB main HDD is 500GB?

i wanted to make a small 4.03GB partition to put my pagefile on to get best performance than just using external drive only.

realflow100 I have a suggestion.

Forget about all the raid stuff and and moving pagefile, just install a SSD for Windows 7 and your programs.

Having the pagefile on a separate partition is a bad idea that will impair performance. The ideas behind this are based on misconceptions. Having it on a separate local physical drive, if it is comparable in performance to the system drive, may be beneficial. But with the RAM you have I doubt it would be noticeable.

In most cases having a system managed pagefile on the system partition is as close to optimum as to make no difference.

Configuring RAID 0 with your current hardware configuration, even if possible, would impair performance. RAID 0 will improve performance (usually not worth the effort) but only if certain conditions are met. This is often overlooked.

you shouldn't put the pagefile on a raid volume ever.
neither 0, nor 5 or 6. os might wan't to initialize page file before raid is ready.
got that from an lsi manual.

i put pagefiles on seperate non raided ssds sometimes. but only in machines with insane amount of ram.

You can put the pagefile on a RAID 0 volume if there is a hardware RAID controller. But even then RAID 0 will do nothing for pagefile performance. RAID 0 benefits most for large sequential reads. Pagefile usage is typically small random reads mixed with access to other files, about the worst possible case for RAID 0. From a performance standpoint an SSD is virtually ideal for a pagefile.

I am not a big fan of RAID 0. Usually it is more trouble than it is worth.

I did that once on a proper lsi controller and was getting errors in event log.

then i read the manual for the controller and it said that wasn't a good idea to begin with.

so maybe even that is hit and miss.
