Hi I'm still trying to get my Sapphire HD3650 working on 7 but now i'm pretty sure the reason it isn't working is that I am running an nforce3 motherboard? does anyone know of a work around for this, I've had a look on a few sites and it seems that nforce3 just means I cant run an ATi card on 7...just wondering if this is right?

I've tried changing the nforce3 250 AGP Host to PCI Bridge to PCI-to-PCI Bridge and restarting with the proper drivers in for my HD3650 but I get a blue screen error saying:

atikmdag.sys is closing

and countdown and then the computer restarts....

Does anyone know what this is?

I think you are correct in that you can not run that card with your motherboard.

737-24498: Windows Vista: Code 43 Error in Device Manager in Systems with ATI AGP Cards and Nforce3 Chipset Motherboards

The only shot you have at success is trying this from the link I just gave.

"Other users have resolved this issue by updating their chipset drivers from the Device Manager. In the Device Manager, under the "System Devices" section, find the graphics controller (typically AGP to CPU controller or PCI Express Root Port), right click and choose update driver. Choose to connect to the internet or Windows Update to update the driver and continue through the update."

Basically, that means that if there are no available newer driver versions of your AGP to CPU controller, this can not work.

Do what that says. If it's unsuccessful, right click your AGP to CPU in device manager system devices, choose properties, go to details tab, change the property dropdown box to say hardware ids. Copy and paste to here what is there.

Also, tell me the version number of the driver it is currently using.

The one you have highlighted in blue is the correct one to deal with, regarding my last post. Yup.

Cool. Go back to how you have it in that screenshot. Only now, go to driver tab. Give me a screenshot of that.

See, the problem is that your motherboard is too old. NVidia decided that they will not support it anymore and do not offer any newer drivers for that device in question. That means you are stuck with what you currently have.

You can see by going here and choosing legacy for product type and nForce 3 series for product series.

Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Even if you tell it you want Vista drivers, it reports back, "No certified downloads were found for this configuration."

I have one final recommendation to try. If it doesn't work, I'm afraid you'll have to return that graphics card for your money back.

Go into your motherboard bios and set the AGP to be x4 instead of x8. Good luck! But please do not get your hopes up. It doesn't have a great chance of success.
