Ok my ethernet connection works fine untill I either try to stream video from my NAS to xbox360 (streaming thru mapped drive & windows media player) , or when running uTorrent.

If I disconnect the network adapter and reconnect in network connections the connection is restored and is fine.

- I have double checked that the option for my pc to disable the nic is off.

My Network Adapter is : Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/1000Base-T Controller driver ver. 2.4.7.27

My Motherboard is: ASUS P5K-V

Any Ideas?

In what sense is the NIC "dropping the connection"? What's the sequence of events when you're streaming from that NAS?

"streaming" from the NAS is really just making the NAS drive available for the Xbox360 to see through my windows 7 pc via a mapped drive.

the connection drops....as in after 5 - 20 min of "streaming" or uTorrenting the connection to my pc is no longer available. Other networked pc's are fine.

All PC's including NAS and Xbox360 are WIRED.

What does "no longer available" mean exactly? Is your Win7 box then unable to access internet servers? Does it lose its IP lease? Is the network interface itself listed as "disabled"? The output of IPCONFIG /ALL in the "bad" state may be useful.

Does the same thing happen if you boot the Win7 box to [safe mode + net] and test from there?

I don't own an XBOX so bear with me on this one here lol. I had a problem with my PS3 streaming really slowly with lots of buffering. I set it to use only half-duplex connection and it has worked perfectly and fast, no buffering at all, ever since.

About the uTorrent thing. Try to lower the maximum amount of allowed peers/seeders.

It is unable to access the internet when this happens. I am not sure if it loses its IP or if the network interface is listed as disabled. The win7 machine has a static IP so I never thought of checking those things.

Next time it happens ill be sure to check........I havent been torrenting or streaming video so the connection has stayed up fine for the past 10hrs.

This most likely has to do with the network adaptor driver being used. This is a very common problem for many people running Windows 7. The drivers for network adaptors really hasn't caught up with Windows 7 as yet but the situation should get resolved with driver updates which should be coming soon.
