I've been looking at Dell offerings over the past few weeks, and noted that they only listed 32-bit, Windows 7 processors on the basic Inspiron 537s computer. Their other models only came in 64-bit. Last night, they removed 32-bit options from their customization pages. When contacted, Dell said they will only install the 64-bit processor for new builds. I checked HP's site and saw the same situation for Windows 7 systems - no 32-bit processors. That looks like a push to sell more hardware.

I did the same as you and we came up with the same thought.

I would call it a technological sqeeze. The 128 bit is in R & D right now and prototypes are being tested in the labs. Another little goodie is the approval of USB 3.0 and supposed release in 2010. Intel has already stated that the USB 3.0 will not be in their chips till 2011.
