I am receiving this when I attempt to access a particular forum site. Other users, I understand, are using the site normally, although there have been a few similar complaints.
The Administrator appears to be unable to rectify the problem.
Any ideas?

I should add that this happens with three different browsers.

Typically this is a DNS problem if the web site is really on line.

That means that there's an issue somewhere between you and the website.

Try running a ping and tracert to the website in question, that should tell you where you're losing the connection.

Start > Search "cmd" > Open cmd.exe

ping http://www.website.com

OR

tracert http://www.website.com

Ah. I should have amplified that I have tried the known command prompt methods.
It only indicates, that the site exists and is at the end of the path.
Pinging and tracert, produce the same positive result.

Ah well. We are two family members stuck with it. Guess we will just have to abandon the site. Very weird.
I did notice, after further experiments, that if I typed the IP address in the address bar, it came up with the message that the site did not exist. It certainly does and is in constant use.

Dave does this happen on more than one PC?

If not try from an administrator cmd prompt:- netsh winsock reset

Yes. On all household PCs through the same router. (I have done nothing to the router config.)
Just going for a reboot afetr resetting the winsock.
Later:: No change. By the way, I also get the "Plesk" site, I am now wondering if there is not a problem with this.

Your IP's are pretty static (you've only used 3 here since joining here) I'm just wondering if they are blocking your IP?

Ok. You can close the thread.
One of the Admins went into my profile and saved it again. Everything back to normal now.
