I bought a generic computer which i was told has intel motherboard. It had windows vista installed and it used to display a message that No audio output device is installed . I recently installed windows 7 home premium 32 bit on it but it still says the same thing. I went to properties of it and found following error message. This device cannot start. (Code 10). any help will be greatly appreciated to resolve this issue. thanks
Code 10 can be missing driver. Also if the Integrated (on the motherboard) audio has been disabled in the BIOS this can happen. Check the BIOS, install any motherboard chipset drivers then the audio driver.
Also, fill out the System Specs. We can only guess or give "educated guesses" without the information.

In Device manager the name is 'High definition audio device' and there is a yellow triangle on a speaker icon. SPECIFICATIONS Pentium 4, 3.06 GHz, RAM IGB 32 BIT SYSTEM
That is not the system specs. System Specs would include the motherboard or PC manufacturer and the Motherboard model number. It should all be put in "My System Specs".
"High Definition audio device" in most cases means the PC or Motherboard vendor's driver has not been installed.

The generic "High Definition Audio Device" is one problem. You need the RealTek sound driver for this model. The High Definition microsoft driver has been a problem on many PC's, from posts on here.
Here is the Gateway (Emachines) driver downloads, that includes the RealTek driver. It also has the Intel chipset driver. Download and install the intel chipset driver FIRST and then the RealTek driver and see if that fixes it.

I followed your instructions but when I tried to install audio driver, windows advised me to open it in sandbox. I did that but there was a message that Realtek setup failed. I than opened file in normal mode but there was again the same message.
Windows does not have "sandbox". It sounds like you have Avast security software that does have a "sandbox" function and if that is the case you need to bypass that so you can install it. The sandbox feature is there for questionable programs (questionable by Avast's standards) so you don't infect the PC but it shouldn't be flagging drivers from the PC vendor.
