I've just spent the last 1.5 hours grappling with this problem that happens frequently. I have Logitech speakers which are properly connected (green light on), I have checked: Device Manager, both Intel(R) Audio Properties and Realtek HD Audio "device working properly, gone into services.msc/all necessary services Started/Automatic, checked the Volume icon does not have a red check, etc.. (I am unable to do chkdsk or sfc /scannow: the command prompt boxes flash for a second and then disappear!) This is such a vexing problem. As always, your help is greatly appreciated. ellenc
