no autoplay/run

I will try to explain this, when you put a cd (software) or dvd movie or a smartcard my computer used to pop up a window and it asked me what I wanted to do (open in new window use a program and other options) that does not happen anymore. I can get to them via my explorer and and then right click and choose. I have checked and my autorun/play is checked. Any help would be nice as if I put a movie in it does not start right away nor does software start to load ect ect.
