No Bluetooth devices found

Hi!
I have read a lot about problems on W7 with Bluetooth, but none of the solutions seem to apply to me. When I doubleclick on the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar the Bluetooth Devices window comes up, the green bar loads to 99% and nothing happens, even though I have 2 turned on Bluetooth devices near the dongle. I have also tried using the software (BlueSoleil) that came with the dongle, but that doesnt work either.
All the devices in the device manager are installed correctly (no unknown devices). I am using W7 Premium.
Any help is appreciated.

Can you tell us what the two devices are that you are trying to connect?
Also can you fill out your system specs in your userCP

I keep saying this... but checking the Bluetooth Service is running is of paramount importance - by default it seems to be set to manual start, and not automatic - thus crippling BT devices of course...

Glad it assisted you, I only discovered it after hours of frustration on a machine of my own - because we all naturally tend to look at the hardware and think 'is this even compatible with the new OS...'

I also had same problem and tried for hours to solve it. I tried about 10 drivers and none of them worked. And all because Windows 7 didn't hear about automatic stuff. Than you Qdos for that holly post. If I have not found your post, I would format my C: (Windows) partition.

Same problem, but bluetooth services is ON

I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB1S1E, Windows 7 x64.

I see the bluetooth icon in the system tray, the device is turned on (from the Wi-fi utility software that comes with the Vaio) and the bluetooth service is started. If I click on the tray icon, "Allow device to connect" is greyed out. If I click on "Add a device" it just scans forever and doesn't find any devices (I tried a discoverable mouse and two separate, discoverable, nokia phones).

Nokia phones can find the laptop when scanning for bluetooth devices but they can't connect (Laptop doesn't actually respond).

1. I tried upgrading to the latest bluetooth firmware found on Sony Support website. It installed fine, but problem remains

2. I removed bluetooth broadcom software and tried to reinstall the latest version from broadcom site. The installer says "please turn on your bluetooth device" and won't go forward, so I guess it can't find it?

3. I tried removing all the bluetooth drivers from device manager, but that resulted in Windows using it's default drivers which didn't solve the problem.


Also, not sure if it's related: My Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 isn't listed under "Bluetooth devices" but it appears under "Devices and printers" and cannot be removed (the right click menu doesn't have the option). Before, it used to show under bluetooth devices.

Not sure what triggered the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I too have the exact same problem as described by the previous two posters, with the same mouse however i am using a dell vostro 3500 and the have the dell bluetooth 365 module built into the laptop. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Me too, I've got the same problem as the above three posts. I'm running Win 7 on 64bit, on a Sony Vaio VPCF116FGI. Until yesterday I was successful connecting to my Logitech blue tooth (M555b), but now no longer. When I try to add bt device it just goes into an endless search. I have set bt services to automatic, but to no avail.
I'm currently installing the SP1, hopefully this might help, any ideas appreciated.

Dell Precision M4400 Win 7 Professional 32 bit SP1 here. I'm having the same issues with my Dell 370 Bluetooth internal card. Enabled in BIOS, I've tried every WIDCOMM driver available, let Dell VPN into my computer to try to fix it (twice), service set to Auto, deleting bluetooth registry values, and nothing has worked. Dell recommended a complete reinstallation of Windows. I'd consider it if it was an option for me (company laptop).

I initially installed the official (read: outdated) drivers from the Dell website, and I was able to connect my Microsoft 5000 BT mouse as well as connect my Android phones. After the first reboot, I haven't been able to find the bluetooth devices. Bluetooth works every time when I boot into Ubuntu on the same laptop, so it's not a hardware issue.

If your Bluetooth Mouse quits working after a Windows 7 update, try the following.

Go into Control Panel -> Device and Printers and see if there is a mouse (or 2) already there. If so, right click on the mouse picture and Remove it. Repeat for all of the phantom mice.

Reboot and try the discovery process again.

Works on Vista also.

Hi folks,
After installing Win updates, i get the same symptoms as described above in my two laptops, one a XP-x32, the other a Win7-x64, both were happily connecting to and using my bluetooth mobile phone before the Win updates.

The XP-x32 was cured after changing the BluetoothService to log on using Local Account and changing it to run in Automatic Mode.

The same trick did nothing for the Win7-x64.

Both machines are using the same bluetooth dongle, so no hardware issues with the dongle.

No phantom mice on the device manager, only a Synaptics Touchpad, deleting it and rebooting had no effect.

In fact, after going through the device manager and systematically deleting all bluetooth devices (bluetooth HID device, bluetooth modem, bluetooth RFCOMM protocol, bluetooth PAN, etc.), and during the reboot, i noticed the system automatically reinstalled all the deleted devices even before i try to search for and install the bluetooth phone, and nothing is found when i try to add the bluetooth mobile phone...

Any of your gurus have an opinion on this?

Just in case you can't figure out how to do it, here's how:

Click start and type service, the Services should be highlighted. Just click it. Double click Bluetooth Support Service, click Logon tab. Select Logon as This Account, type Local Service, enter your admin password and hit ok. You'll be prompted to restart the service, just restart it.
