A couple of years ago I bought an Acer Aspire 5750Z-4835 running Windows 7. This was a new laptop.

Not long afterwards when I tried to boot the computer a screen would appear that said "Launch Startup Repair". I did. The computer works several times and again the Launch Startup Repair appeared.

This has happened 8 to 10 times since I bought the laptop. I have even wiped the HD, reinstalled the OS but it still happens.

So, my question is, why does this laptop continue to have this problem?

It could be that you have a recurring file system corruption. This could be caused by power problems, or you could have a failing hard drive.

First test, run Disk Check from windows:

Second test, download and run the hard drive manufacturer's hard drive diagnostic program on the drive. You can find a link to these on the manufacturer's website.

Thanks for the reply, but the laptop won't boot to run either test. This last time and the time before the "repair" won't work and I have to wipe the HD and completely reload the OS to get the laptop to work. So, I will do so and see what happens. Thanks again.

A few of the hard drive diagnostics can be run from a bootable CD. Drive Fitness Test is one.

Disk Check can be run from a bootable Windows 7 Installation or repair disk (I think).
