Hello all.
I don't know whether this belongs here. If it does not, please LET ME KNOW.
Abit AX78 MoBo. Suddenly the computer doesn't boot and the MoBo buzzer is going crazy. I have 2 SATA HDs, one IDE HD and one IDE DVD drive on the computer. Win7 x64 is on one of the SATAs. Disconnected the SATAs and the IDE HD and connected another, verified, IDE HD (XP sp3). Changed boot priority in BIOS to IDE HD from SATA HD. The buzzer still goes crazy, but the computer apparently boots, always ending up at the Safe Mode menu. I press on Normal Boot or Safe Mode option in the menu and after about 2 seconds get BSOD 0x0000007B.
All cards taken out, except for the video. Took out all memory sticks interchangebly, leaving only one in the first slot. Measured voltages of the PSU for IDE. All correct. Could not do the same for SATA since pins are too dense and I am afraid the PSU will be fried. Measured voltages to the MoBo's power sockets and everything appears to be correct.
At first, I thought it was the MoBo's HD controllers, because, as I related above, the computer won't boot off of ANY of the drives, however it'll boot off of the IDE DVD drive and all HDs are recognized in the BIOS.
Then, I put in another IDE HD, verified (XP sp3). Same result. Disconnected the HD and left only the DVD drive connected. The computer boots normally off of a DOS boot CD. Evidently, no HDs are found because, even if I connect them back, DOS won't find them since the file sistem I use on all HDs is NTFS.
Any ideas? Thanks a million if you have. The computer was OK last night when used last.
Sylva.
