No clock in Desktop

Hi,
1. In this continuing annoyances of Win7 , I find the Desktop clock and desktop launch tab dissappear when a number of programs are made to display in Systray. Can't they simply control it by arrows. Please tell where is the patch?

2. Why does icon refresh (esp shortcuts ) take a huge time and appear one by one. In XP there was a Max Icon Cache hack , what is it for Win 7.

Hi ,
Thanks for the post. But it is not about enabling or disabling. THe clock and show Desktop tab are pushed out of view , OUT OF RIGHT. It seems essentially an issue where Windows has to mark the systray boundaries perfectly , and provide for negotiating arrows in case of greater number of icons.

If I close some apps from the systray the clock is back again..It was always there , just went out of view..

One option is to drag the top of your taskbar up and make it two rows. The "Lock the taskbar" option my bring the clock back to.

Your notification area is simply too full. Do you really need all those icons there?

One solution is to use vertical taskbar as mine here which I have on the left (screenshot from Windows 8 but it's the same on Seven). It shows absolutely everything you want to if all icons are enabled:

Thanks to all for the replies. Mine is a 19"screen with 800 x 600 res (I feel comfortable with it). The systray of "Kari" is interesting. If it comes to the left where is the "Start " button then. Can you explain how to get it to the Right. I can do with the screen space available...

A good question of whether all icons are required. XP had a beautiful come-around when it would display only those which are active and have it neatly hidden after some time of inactivity.Win 7 insists either they are displayed fully or hidden even while they are active or inactive. Also due to strange reasons at time of startup some icons come missing even though the application is shown as started. I had to restart explorer to get it right.

You can select which Icons and notifications appear on the taskbar. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ons-hide-show-system-icons-notifications.html You could try the "Only show notifications" option and see if that works for you.

The systray of "Kari" is interesting. If it comes to the left where is the "Start " button then. Can you explain how to get it to the Right. I can do with the screen space available...

As I mentioned my screenshot was from Windows 8 which has no Start button. On 7 vertical taskbar the Start button is on top as seen in this screenshot from my desktop on a dual display desktop:

As you can see I do not like desktop icons, using Quick Launch Toolbar as a "dock" (I don't like those Rocket and whatever docks either ).

Right click an empty spot in taskbar, unselect Lock the Taskbar, drag and drop taskbar where you want to (right, left, top, bottom).

I saw bins on a member's screen shot and thought "Hey, How'd you do that!?"

Bins is not free, but almost.

I don't know about any of the other utils listed.

Would you or could you set your resolution to 1366x768 or 1440x900 if you please?See if that gives you a better opportunity to have all your tray icons the way u want them?

Once again thanks to all those generous replies. One thing may I request , just to confirm that it is indeed a normal occurence though silly.
1. In a 800 x 600 res on increasing the number of programs it is the CLOCK and the SHOW DESKTOP tab which are the ones which get compromised. Windows any way provides side arrows to access programs that is , but the clock is not there.

2. How to set the boundary area (width) of Systray. In that case I will try to have a bigger area for task bar.
