no desktop

shrunk c drive to create another partition. I moved some files thier, & later deleted files,volume.extended c drive. upon restart I get z drive can not be found. how can I restore desktop???????

Do you see win7 startup logo on boot? Are you logged on? What is Z (what should it be)?

So you are logged on?

Create a new shortcut or a file on the desktop. Can you saev it on desktop? Rightclick on it and check the properties. Where is it physically saved?

There's NOTHING on desktop? Not even the waste basket

Folder c:\users\<your name>\Desktop exists? Can you see files in that folder? Can you add files to that folder?

all are good except desktop no folder. go to start, right glick desktop. error points to a place un-avaiable.

It sounds like you had some System files on the partition you deleted. See if you can do this too:

I don't think you're going to these keys...Type regedit in Start Search and navigate to them.

yes.. I wanted to move user files from OS by creating another partition(z:\). I decided against doing this.I thot desktop was put back on c:\. deleted partition. when I re-boot mesg. states z:\ desktop cannot be found. regedit desktop z:\desktop.
