First of all, this is my first post on this forum. (Hurray!) Only because most computer related issues I can fix myself with the help of the internet. However after trying to fix this for about 2 days now this is my last resort. Before you ask yes I have HUNTED through the internet trying to fix the issue, but most of the fixes are only specific to their computer so I've decided making a new thread would be the only other option.

So after finally getting sick of Windows Vista, I wanted to upgrade so I bought and downloaded the Windows 7 x32 .iso file and burned it at the lowest speed possible twice; once using ImgBurn, and once using InfraRecorder, after recieving the error the first time. From there I shut down my computer and rebooted it, and booted from the Windows 7 install disk. The installer then opens up and everything till I get to the language screen, where I pick my language (English US or just English, from memory.) Time and date location (English New Zealand) and default for the other (cannot remember that). From there it takes me to the next screen, where a pop up saying 'No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok.' pops up with three options, Ok, Cancel and Browse. From there I pretty much have to find my driver updates to continue, but it does not specify what driver I need at all and I have no idea what to do.

So far I have tried all of the solutions provided in this post, except for the USB, which my friend is bringing me shortly, hopefully that will fix it, I will edit the thread if it does or does not. But do not hesitate to reply with fixes you know will or may work, because holding back will just mean longer with the worst OS in the world if the USB solution does not work. (Slight exaggeration there, I know.)

Here the main system stats from dxdiag, post if you need me to find any more.

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002)
System Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
System Model: X58LE
BIOS: Default System BIOS
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T3400 @ 2.16GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
Memory: 2038MB RAM
Display Device: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

Oh and on a slightly irrelevant note, if you have any idea on how to speed up my computer for gaming and general browsing etc, as the best drivers are hard to find etc, don't hesitate to add that either. ^_^

Thanks in advance guys for all the help, and try to be very specific, I'm not completely computer illiterate, but it helps when you are delving into places you may have never seen before. :P

Hello Sock, and a big welcome to you to Seven Forums!

Try this tutorial out for your particular situation: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31402-clean-install-upgrade-windows-7-version.html

Also, if you have any other installation questions you need tutorials for, you might use this google search under 'standard search' for this forum to look it up, as we have a lot of tutorials.

And the drivers are found simply through the part's or Computer's manufacturer's website, in your case Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download X58LE

You can look through this to speed up your computer: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11728-optimize-windows-7-a.html

I can help you more specifically with certain drivers if you update your system specs; a how-to can be found in my signature below V

I looked at the tutorial, and all of them by the looks of it require you to get past the first stage (I looked at option one - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html) and I don't even get to step five, accepting the license terms.

Does this mean I should install the drivers for Windows Vista, Windows 7 or both? Or should I install drivers for vista first and then put the .exe files for the Windows 7 drivers on a usb stick? Also, what drivers does Windows 7 need to run? Because it doesn't ask for any specific driver when I get to that stage.

Thanks your help with the drivers and everything too, it really helps. I'll grab my system stats for you now. Will edit them on shortly.

Where did you buy the download iso image from? Sounds to me like it's incomplete. If you have a valid key you can download a good, legal, iso form here:

You might try Ztruker's link just to check and see if you are still getting the error. I've never heard of Win7 having this issue. But since you have the key, it shouldn't matter so much the source (unless it is pirated, which Ztrucker's link is not).

Is there any other way to do it? Because downloading it took FOREVER. (I'm on a 30kb/s connection. :/) If there is no other option I guess redownloading it is the thing to do.

So what exactly am I looking for with the hashes? I compared them but am I meant to find the one that is the same or what? Be more specific please as I've never dealt with this before. :)

Click on the Details link for the Windows 7 product you purchased then compare the SHA1 hash.

You may need to go to the 2nd page to find what you purchased, which I'm guessing is Windows 7 Home Premium X86 (32 bit)
