Hi,
I tried starting my Win 7 Ultimate machine and it doesn't sound like it's booting or anything and displays no image. I can hear drives etc. power but that's all. I've tried different graphics cards and no output and in differenct PCIe slots. Checked the Win drive in another machine and it's OK. Lights are on on the MB and if I hit for reset in the ASUS P8P67_EVO MB onboard switch the lights flash for it but nothing doing.

Any suggestions gratefully welcomed.

Similar experience few days ago...in my case it was CMOS battery on the motherboard. Other then that disconnect power supply lead and keep your finger on power button for 1 minute seem to work for some

Hi Spangle,

A few relevant questions:

  1. What lights flash are you referring to?
  2. Post test lights or lights on the front of the computer?
  3. Do you hear any beeps? (beep codes, long and or short beeps)
  4. Can you enter the BIOS utility at startup?
  5. Do you know how to access BIOS?
  6. Do you have a bootable DVD or Flash Drive you can try?
  7. If not, Do you know how to create a bootable DVD or Flash Drive
  8. If you power your monitor/display, without computer turned on, does anything show or just blank screen?
  9. Have you tried a different monitor/display, to see if that's the problem?
The F key functions for Asus MoBo are as follows.

1. esc = Boot drive options
2. F2 = BIOS setup
3. F8 = Options for "safe mode"
4. F9 = System recovery (will start the recovery from the "hidden recovery partition".
5. Delete = BIOS setup

Immediately after you press the computer power button, start pressing the F2 key. I'm pretty sure the above F key apply to your MoBo, if not, process of elimination always works.

Be back in a few hours!

7932, in post, is referring to a power reset (or hard restart) which clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.
