Turned the monitor off, left a file transfer running. Went and did something else.

Came back, turned the monitor back on. "No signal" briefly flashed up, then the screen went black.

Unplugged the DisplayPort cable from my graphics card and monitor, and connected an HDMI cable straight from my motherboard. Same result.

No idea if the transfer has completed so I'm disinclined to reboot.

GeForce GTX 1060, H170-Gaming 3.

Hello koberulz.

If the case HDD LED is still flickering on and off, then the computer is still in operation.

Otherwise, there is a chance that the computer went to sleep while you were away, in which case try tapping a key on the keyboard, or click the mouse, to wake the machine up.

It's set to never go to sleep but no, the mouse and keyboard have no effect on the lack of display.

The computer hosts a media server and I'm still able to view videos from it on my phone, so I know it's still running.

There is not a lot you can do with no display, and you cannot 'hot-swap' the graphics card, but you can swap out the monitor, and try in a different machine.

I don't think there is another way to restart the graphics, without restarting the computer ... so, if you have the inclination, maybe that is all you can do at this stage ...

Have you ever used the computer in a multi-monitor setup ... perhaps pressing :orb: key + P will cycle through the monitor connections... that is all else I can think of.

Went to shut down...hit the power button and the screen came on. But it'd started the shutdown process, so it wasn't a case of the power button waking it up or anything.

It had a message saying several open programs were preventing it shutting down, via which I was able to cancel the shutdown. My Windows Explorer windows were all shrunk and moved to the top left corner, as though at some point the resolution had been dramatically decreased.

Turns out somehow my power settings got changed to have the computer sleep after 15 minutes.
